As a Senior AI Specialist, you will drive practical, effective AI adoption across all functions at Genio, empowering commercial, operational, and engineering teams to build and run their own workflows. In this hands-on technical role, you will lead company-wide enablement: training staff to create custom skills and automations, curating a centralized best-practices library, providing first-line technical support, and building custom Python or JavaScript integrations when off-the-shelf software falls short. Working alongside leadership, your success is measured by what the rest of the company can independently build and achieve.

You will be responsible for:

• Enablement, Coaching & Training: Coach and train employees across all departments to build, test, and maintain their own AI skills and workflows through structured onboarding, hands-on workshops, hackathons, and drop-in support hours.
• Skills Library & Content Curation: Surface, refine, and document high-performing workflows and prompt patterns from across the company into a centralized library, directly authoring custom solutions to fill operational capability gaps.
• Technical Integrations & Automation: Build and maintain API-based integrations, system connectors, and custom scripts using Python or JavaScript when standard platform configurations are insufficient.
• User Support & System Debugging: Provide reliable technical support for AI tooling, investigate connector failures or unexpected model outputs, and incorporate root-cause fixes into ongoing training and documentation.
• Governance, Security & Tool Evaluation: Partner with IT, InfoSec, and Compliance to manage access permissions, maintain an up-to-date tool inventory, evaluate third-party software using a buy-over-build approach, and run secure software trials.

👥 Meet the team

You will be reporting directly into the Head of Business Operations (known internally as BizOps) and working most closely with:

• Principal Platform Engineer and Principal Engineers
• Senior Product Analysts (Operations)
• IT, InfoSec, and GTM Systems Teams
• Internal stakeholders across all business divisions

👤 About you

Essential:

• Enablement Mindset & Communication: Motivated by teaching others to build technical solutions, with clear, patient communication skills capable of engaging both non-technical team members and experienced software engineers.

• Technical Integration Expertise: Hands-on experience with LLM APIs, agentic tooling, and workflow automation platforms, supported by strong programming skills in Python and/or JavaScript to build custom API integrations.

• Practical AI Experience: Active personal use of AI tools and agents in day-to-day work, backed by concrete examples of built automations, metric tracking, and failure handling.

• Debugging & Technical Problem-Solving: Proven ability to investigate, diagnose, and resolve technical faults across both system integrations and AI outputs.

• Data Security & Governance: Practical understanding of security boundaries, access controls, and data privacy requirements when deploying AI agents with system, browser, or file-level permissions.

• Pragmatic Curation & Evaluation: Strong judgment in evaluating emerging software based on measurable performance and determining which custom workflows should be standardized company-wide.

💰 Salary and benefits

£70,000 - £80,000 dependent upon experience

📍 Location

Our beautiful office space in Leeds is our key hub for collaboration, and we love to get together in person. We operate a flexible hybrid working model, including supporting our Genios who are based remotely across the UK. If you are more than 50 miles away from the office, we offer full remote working support, with the opportunity to join colleagues for in-person collaboration several times a year.
