Job Scope:
We are looking for a proactive, technically skilled, and highly responsible Equipment Specialist to join our NJ operations team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong ownership, attention to detail, and a solutions-driven mindset to support and enhance our laboratory infrastructure. Details: This is a full-time role based onsite in Piscataway, NJ. We are seeking a bilingual candidate with fluency in English and Mandarin Chinese.
The estimated salary range is $80,000 - $95,000, based on experience.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Take full ownership of the maintenance lifecycle for a wide range of lab equipment, including but not limited to: liquid handlers, HPLCs, biosafety cabinets, centrifuges, ULT freezers, incubators, PCR systems, autoclaves, and analytical instruments.
- Independently perform preventive maintenance and calibration; support troubleshooting and basic repairs for non-GMP laboratory instruments.
- Work closely with procurement and lab users to streamline spare parts strategy and preventive maintenance scheduling.
- Oversee external contractors' services; act as the primary on-site contact.
- Identify equipment lifecycle risks and proactively recommend upgrades, replacements, or mitigation plans.
- Maintain up-to-date service records, inventory tracking, and equipment history in CMMS (e.g., Limble) or Excel-based logs.
- Support laboratory setup, relocation, or expansion projects, including utility planning and equipment installation.
- Ensure all work complies with company SOPs, service-level agreements (SLAs), safety protocols, and relevant regulatory standards.
- Actively contribute to continuous improvement efforts in lab equipment efficiency, cost control, and safety.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 2–5 years of direct experience in biotech or life sciences equipment maintenance and operations.
- Strong problem-solving ability and technical troubleshooting mindset.
- Demonstrated accountability and a strong sense of ownership in previous roles.
- Bonus: Experience working with CMMS tools (e.g., Limble), vendor/contractor coordination, or small-scale project leadership.
