You will work collaboratively with our CM and internal teams to drive improvements, approve changes and lead root cause analysis efforts to maintain and enhance production performance.
How you'll make an impact
- Provide total oversight of more advanced and challenging global contract manufacturing production lines, ensuring that operations meet or exceed established goals for throughput and quality.
- Review and approve any proposed changes that may impact the production line, including process modifications, equipment updates, and material changes. Ensure changes are thoroughly evaluated and documented before implementation.
- Analyze and optimize production processes to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and increase yield while maintaining product quality. Collaborate with contract manufacturers to implement Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Lead root cause analysis and troubleshooting of production issues. Implement corrective actions and preventative measures in collaboration with contract manufacturers and internal stakeholders.
- Maintain close, daily communication with the contract manufacturing team to monitor production status, address challenges, and align on continuous improvement opportunities. Serve as the primary liaison between internal teams and the factory team at the CM.
- Work closely with the design, R&D and operations teams to ensure smooth transition of new products from development to full-scale production, ensuring contract manufacturers are ready for production ramp-up.
- Evaluate and manage relationships with suppliers and ensure raw materials meet required specifications for quality and performance. Create and maintain documentation related to manufacturing processes, including process flow diagrams, standard operating procedures and work instructions. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and ISO standards.
- Analyze manufacturing costs and work with contract manufacturers to identify opportunities for cost reduction without compromising quality or performance.
- Collaborate with internal departments such as R&D, quality, supply chain, and procurement to resolve production issues, improve product quality and align on project timelines and goals.
- Analyze the failure analysis of field returns and report on trending issues and field failure rates.
What you'll bring to the role
- 5-8 years of manufacturing engineering experience, with at least 3 years working directly with the contract manufacturers.
