Who you are:

We are always looking for amazing talent who can contribute to our growth and deliver results! Geotab is seeking a Senior Instructional Video Designer who will be an expert in media production while owning the entire video and animation workflow from concept to post-production. What you'll do:

As a Senior Instructional Video Designer your key area of responsibility will be leading all aspects of video production, including in-person shoots, designing learning experiences based on instructional design principles and a strong understanding of adult learning, and leveraging technology to create impactful learning. You will need to work closely with key business groups to develop effective and appropriate video learning solutions, programs, and key project initiatives.

To be successful in this role you will demonstrate a keen analytical ability to identify issues, make sound decisions, and adapt strategies as needed. In addition, the successful candidate will have strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills, fostering effective teamwork and negotiation.

How you'll make an impact:

  • Spearheading the entire video production process, from initial planning, script development, and storyboarding to filming, post-production, and final approvals, all while integrating sight and sound to create compelling narratives that enhance comprehension and retention for adult learners, ensuring timely delivery and effective logistics management.

  • Design, script, produce, and edit compelling, educational training videos for self-paced learning experiences (e.g., product how-tos, installations, demos).

  • Leverage AI-enhanced video creation tools such as Synthesia, Heygen, Vyond, Descript, or Arcade to accelerate development, create avatars, automate voiceovers, and simplify localization and updates.

  • Ability to coordinate and direct live video shoots, and perform the role of a producer including setting up shoots and the ability to use a variety of video equipment, including camera, lights, and all supporting equipment. 

  • Work collaboratively with subject matter experts and stakeholders to identify learning objectives and performance outcomes.

  • Design activities and assessments that are engaging, challenging, and relevant, incorporating gamification elements and advanced learning solutions where appropriate.

  • Design and produce learning materials in various formats, including e-learning modules, videos, simulations, and interactive activities.

  • Apply adult learning principles, instructional design models (ADDIE, SAM), and cognitive science research, utilizing Bloom’s Taxonomy, Gagne's sequence of instruction, and Instructional Design methodology to deliver the most efficient and effective learning experience.

What you'll bring to the role:

  • Bachelor's of Education, Adult Learning, or Instructional Design or Masters of Education, Adult Learning, or Instructional Design Or 4yr+ Degree & Certificate. 

  • Certificate (approved post secondary certificate in education, adult learning, or instructional design) Or (CPT, CTDP, CDT, APTD, CPTD, CIT)

  • Post-Secondary Degree/Diploma Specialization in Television Broadcast Journalism, Film Production, cinematography or related certificates or certifications.

  • 2 years of experience in corporate learning and onboarding, including the development of eLearning.

  • 3-5 years experience (or a very strong portfolio) as a videographer, editor, and camera operator with experience leading in-person video shoots and working directly with video equipment (camera, lighting, audio engineering).

  • 3 years of experience with Camtasia, Adobe Creative Cloud.

  • 2 years of experience with current learning technologies in a large corporate environment and experience using rapid e-learning authoring tools, preferably Articulate Rise.

  • 2 years of experience and Google’s suite of business tools (Docs, Slides, Sheets).

  • Demonstrates a keen analytical ability to identify issues, make sound decisions, and adapt strategies as needed.

  • HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript for custom interactions is an asset. 

  • Proven aptitude for and interest in leading-edge development tools and technology.
