If you love technology, research collaboration, and are keen to join an industry leader — we would love to hear from you!

What you'll do:

As a Research & Innovation Partnerships Coordinator, your key area of responsibility will be leading the full scope of strategic collaborative R&D initiatives within Geotab's Research and Innovation Partnerships (R&IP), ensuring all projects align with our innovation goals and maintain continuity across research initiatives. You will be responsible for managing and coordinating project implementation and execution, overseeing legal processes and partner onboarding, and serving as the central owner for academic and research partnerships throughout their entire relationship lifecycle. You will need to work closely with internal stakeholders, academic institutions, and research partners to actively manage resources, coordinate events, provide digital media assistance, and maintain collaborative relationships that drive strategic communication and successful project delivery.

To be successful in this role you will be a strategic relationship builder with strong project coordination abilities, excellent communication skills, and the capacity to work effectively with diverse academic and research communities. In addition, the successful candidate will have proven experience in partnership management, legal process coordination, and the ability to balance multiple collaborative initiatives while maintaining high standards for relationship support and meeting strategic innovation objectives.

How you'll make an impact:

  • Manage a portfolio of collaborative research programs with external academic, government, and industry partners.

  • Manage interactions between legal representatives to ensure accurate and timely completion of Research Agreements, particularly concerning non-disclosure and intellectual property terms.

  • Develop and maintain program documentation and facilitate clear communication between internal and external research stakeholders.

  • Support research initiatives from initial discussions through ongoing coordination, facilitating collaboration between internal teams and external partners.

  • Track and document the progress of collaborative research programs throughout their lifecycle.

  • Coordinate legal and logistical tasks, including provisioning GO devices and MyGeotab access, onboarding student researchers, and tracking contractual agreements. Guide university researchers through Geotab's processes in collaboration with internal teams.

  • Maintain regular communication with research partners and internal stakeholders.

  • Coordinate milestone communication through various channels including memos, social media, Geotab Connect, and external events, to highlight Geotab's innovation.

  • Contribute to the planning of partnership events such as the annual "Research Partner Day," academic conferences, and stakeholder meetings to strengthen collaborative relationships.

  • Drive engagement by creating and implementing strategic digital media initiatives to increase visibility of research projects through podcast-style interviews, YouTube shorts, and other multimedia content in collaboration with internal teams and external partners.

  • Ensure program plans harmonize with SRED objectives, where applicable.

  • Ensure collaborative programs adhere to established guidelines and agreements.

What you'll bring to the role:

  • 1 - 3 years of experience in project coordination, program support, research administration, R&D support, or a related analytical role.

  • Familiarity with research initiatives involving hardware and software readiness at a proof-of-concept level, testing and analysis reporting, publications, and presentations.

  • Experience with SRED eligibility for projects is an asset.

  • Entry-level project management certification (e.g., CAPM, CSM) or coursework in research administration.

  • Basic understanding of the research and development lifecycle or program coordination.

  • Proactive attitude and willingness to learn about new technologies and research areas.

  • Familiarity with academic or industry research environments is a plus.

  • Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management abilities with excellent interpersonal communication skills.

  • Strong organizational and project coordination skills with attention to detail.

  • Interest in event planning and logistics coordination.

  • Self-motivated with ability to anticipate needs and take initiative to solve problems.

  • Positive demeanor and ability to work effectively with both internal and external collaborators to achieve shared goals.

  • Proficiency with office productivity tools (e.g., Google Workspace, Microsoft Office).

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of individuals.

  • Strong follow-up skills and proven ability to support multiple concurrent initiatives.

If you got this far, we hope you're feeling excited about this role! Even if you don't feel you meet every single requirement, we still encourage you to apply.

As a global organization, we continuously seek ways in which we can support both our staff and our communities through programs and partnerships focused on empowering diversity and prioritizing inclusion.

We invite you to complete this optional survey to help us evaluate our diversity and inclusion efforts. Submission of the information on this form is strictly voluntary. Opting not to participate will not impact your job application in any way. Information obtained will not be associated with your name or job application in any identifiable manner. This information will be kept secure and confidential and will be used solely to evaluate our diversity and inclusion efforts. The information collected in this survey is only available to HR staff and Geotab data scientists to view in aggregated data format and not on an individual basis. Note to USA Applicants: This is a separate survey from the EEO-1 Voluntary Self Identification Form used in the United States for compliance purposes. We feel that the options found in the mandated survey do not encompass the rich diversity of our applicants, and as such strive to provide additional responses that reflect the landscape more accurately.
