Geotab is seeking a Team Lead, Food & Beverage who will provide strategic leadership and direction to the Food & Beverage Coordinators, ensuring the seamless day-to-day operation of the Food & Beverage Program at Geotab headquarters. What you'll do:
As a Team Lead, Food & Beverage your key area of responsibility will be creating a customer obsessed dining experience through mentorship, engagement, and continual professional development of staff. Key accountabilities include championing food safety and compliance, driving operational efficiency and proactive inventory management, and overseeing the planning and execution of business critical events. You will need to work closely with your team of Food & Beverage Coordinators, HQ stakeholders, and external partners to build a high visibility culture of excellence, collaboration, and innovation within the team.
To be successful in this role you will be a leader who fosters professional development and builds a high-visibility culture of excellence and collaboration. In addition, the successful candidate will have strong organizational and operational skills to manage daily operations, inventory, and event execution, while ensuring compliance with all food safety standards.
How you'll make an impact:

Provide strategic, cross functional collaboration within the team to plan and coordinate food and beverage services for various events. Assess event requirements, objectives, and desired outcomes while managing event timelines, schedules, and preparation to ensure seamless and high visibility event flow.

Take ownership of the inventory process, ensuring monthly inventory is accurately reported to facilitate business critical costing. Proactively maintain inventory storage and records to manage stock levels of supplies, and coordinate pick up of essential inventory items as needed (ex. alcohol, ice, event and kitchen supplies, etc).

Create and maintain procedure manuals, menus, and vendor lists as key operational resources. Research food trends and sustainable practices to develop seasonal and culturally diverse menus that address long term office requirements as well as the preferences and dietary needs identified through the lunch planning process.

Ensure all food and beverage operations and preparation adhere to health and safety regulations, including proper handling, storage, and sanitation practices. Coordinate health department inspections for fundamental compliance.

Oversee the activities and performance of direct reports, providing leadership driven, comprehensive training on essential operating procedures, protocols, and customer service standards. Participate in the annual performance management cycle, leading the evaluation process for all team members.

Engage team members through regular one on one meetings to discuss performance, provide feedback and proactively address concerns. Identify areas of growth and career development, aligning with long term operational goals. Conduct pulse checks to determine staff interests and forward thinking growth opportunities to optimize efficiency.

Drive operational efficiency and continuous improvement by leveraging new and existing tools and equipment in support of long term operational goals. Strategically coordinate preventative maintenance and repairs, and manage high visibility communication with internal and external stakeholders during service disruptions due to equipment breakdowns. Prepare critical contingency plans as needed.

Foster conflict resolution and team building through bi weekly team meetings, enhancing communication and proactively addressing issues while implementing recognition and incentive strategies.

Conduct proactive walkthroughs of key areas such as storage, inventory spaces, and kitchen spaces to ensure essential organizational and safety practices are upheld and standardized.

Champion safety initiatives through active participation in the Joint Health & Safety Committee, maintaining critical designations in First Aid, Food Handlers, Smart Serve, and Allergy Awareness.

Lead incident prevention efforts as the key point of contact for emergency procedures, incident reporting, and proper handling of food allergy protocols, reducing risk of business critical events.

Support company culture and employee satisfaction by strategically managing customer complaints and implementing service recovery techniques to prevent high visibility incidents.

Empower staff to utilize company provided benefits by assisting with access questions, submitting support tickets as needed, and explaining available programs and perks that are essential for long term employee engagement.

Manage staff work hours and authorize overtime as needed. Create work schedules and manage time-off requests to ensure coverage for business critical operations.

Oversee the activities, development and performance of team / direct reports:

Provide direction, coaching and mentorship to the team.

Engage in the development of the team by coaching, providing feedback, identifying areas of growth and training opportunities.

Collaborate and support employees during the performance management process, meeting KPAs and career development planning.
What you'll bring to the role:

3 - 5 years of experience in Hospitality Industry, Kitchen service or Manufacturing

1 - 3 years of experience in Administration and Data Entry

1 - 3 years of required supervisory/ leadership experience

Proficient in managing all aspects of food service operations, including inventory control and ensuring strict adherence to health and safety regulations.

Applies a strategic approach to problem-solving and planning to achieve long-term business goals.
