Who you are:

We are always looking for amazing talent who can contribute to our growth and deliver results! Geotab is seeking a Principal Product Designer who will operate as a lead individual contributor on the most complex, strategic, and high-impact product areas, directly influencing key outcomes for the organization. Strategic direction for major product initiatives will be defined and driven, while complex and ambiguous design challenges will be tackled with a high degree of autonomy. If you love technology, and are keen to join an industry leader — we would love to hear from you!

What you'll do:

As a Principal Product Designer, your key area of responsibility will be advocating for clear, understandable, and user-centered design solutions at scale while setting architectural direction for the broader organization's user experiences. You will drive the end-to-end design process for complex initiatives, from initial concept and research synthesis through detailed design and implementation. You will need to work closely with senior stakeholders across Product Management, Engineering, Research, Marketing, and other relevant functions to influence decisions and drive alignment through a clear design vision.

To be successful in this role you will be a strategic thinker and thought leader with compelling communication skills and the ability to translate ambiguity into actionable plans. In addition, the successful candidate will have strong analytical skills and the ability to synthesize complex information from various sources to inform strategic design decisions and elevate the team's design craft.

How you'll make an impact:

  • Define and drive significant portions of the design strategy for major product initiatives, ensuring alignment with overall business goals and market opportunities.
  • Tackle and resolve the most challenging, unstructured problems with many dependencies, translating ambiguity into clear design strategies.
  • Set architectural direction for the broader organization's user experiences and help evolve design systems and frameworks towards it.
  • Improve the Product Design organization by identifying ways to raise the level of competency across the team, contributing to design frameworks, processes, or governance.
  • Actively mentor and guide other designers (Senior, Mid-level, and Lead) on strategic thinking, complex problem-solving, and technical considerations.
  • Represent design effectively in high-level strategic discussions and cross-functional planning, ensuring the user perspective is central to decision-making.

What you'll bring to the role:

  • 15+ years of experience in a related field, with at least 12+ years specifically in product design within a complex SaaS environment.
  • Bachelor’s or Masters degree in HCI/UX, Social Science, Psychology, Research, Design Communication, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in the application of AI/ML concepts to product design, specifically leveraging predictive models and data-driven automation.
  • Proven experience in designing and implementing interaction models for autonomous AI agents, including agent-human collaboration patterns.
  • Strategic experience designing user experiences for geospatial data visualization and location intelligence platforms.
  • Expert level proficiency across all core Product Design competency areas, including UX research, interaction design, and visual design.
  • Strong ability to influence cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders through expertise and collaboration without direct authority.
If you got this far, we hope you're feeling excited about this role! Even if you don't feel you meet every single requirement, we still encourage you to apply.

Opting not to participate will not impact your job application in any way. Information obtained will not be associated with your name or job application in any identifiable manner. This information will be kept secure and confidential and will be used solely to evaluate our diversity and inclusion efforts. The information collected in this survey is only available to HR staff and Geotab data scientists to view in aggregated data format and not on an individual basis. Note to USA Applicants: This is a separate survey from the EEO-1 Voluntary Self Identification Form used in the United States for compliance purposes.
