Who we are:
Who you are:
We are always looking for amazing talent who can contribute to our growth and deliver results! Geotab is seeking a Senior Platform Infrastructure Engineer who will own and evolve the Kubernetes (GKE) platform and shared services that power the Data & AI Platform. The projects will vary in scope, complexity, and affected business area. You are a senior Platform Infrastructure Engineer with strong cloud and Kubernetes fundamentals and a track record of building reliable, secure, and scalable platform capabilities for developer teams. You enjoy operating critical infrastructure, improving it through automation, and setting standards that enable multiple product teams to ship safely and consistently. You’re comfortable working across organizational boundaries (Application teams, CAE, Security, Cloud Ops/IT) and you bring a pragmatic approach to incident response, change management, and platform modernization. If you love technology, and are keen to join an industry leader — we would love to hear from you!
What you'll do:
As a Senior Platform Infrastructure Developer, your key area of responsibility will be owning and evolving the Kubernetes (GKE) platform and shared services that power the Data & AI Platform across multiple environments. You will be responsible for leading the network centralization initiative, building "golden path" infrastructure automation, and defining platform standards for networking, observability, and security. You will also need to provide regular status reports to key partners to ensure the project is on time and meeting expectations. You will need to work closely with Geotab’s CAE, Security, Cloud Ops/IT, and Application teams.
To be successful in this role you will be a pragmatic problem solver with a strong focus on operational excellence and the ability to operate effectively during critical incidents. In addition, the successful candidate will have strong analytical and project management skills with an ability to identify needs, develop effective solutions, and manage projects through completion. The successful candidate will also be able to manage multiple timelines and contrasting priorities to ensure timely results.
How you'll make an impact:
- Design and implement the underlying infrastructure and network architecture for Geotab's big data infrastructure.
- Collaborate with development teams, security, and Cloud Architecture & Engineering (CAE) teams to integrate industry best practices and security standards.
- Design, implement, and maintain logging, monitoring, and alerting services to ensure the health of Geotab’s big data infrastructure.
- Perform quality assurance analysis by performing peer review, ensuring coding standards are followed, and identifying performance improvements or bug fixes.
- Analyze call stacks, trace files, and performance data to troubleshoot and identify the root cause of bugs.
- Assist with the development and maintenance of data engineering guidelines, policies, standards, and processes.
- Mentor other team members toward technical expertise and participate in a 24x7 on-call rotating schedule as required.
What you'll bring to the role:
- Post-secondary Degree specialization in Computer Science, Software/Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- 5–8 years of experience in platform, infrastructure, DevOps, or SRE engineering roles supporting production systems.
- Strong hands-on experience operating Kubernetes in production (preferably GKE) including cluster lifecycle, RBAC, and workload identity.
- Advanced expertise in cloud networking (VPC, subnets, firewalls, and load balancing) and service mesh technologies like Istio.
- Proficiency with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform), GitOps workflows (Argo CD), and Kubernetes packaging (Helm).
- Strong troubleshooting skills across cloud, network, and cluster layers with the ability to lead incident response.
- Experience with Golang, Python, or Bash scripting for automation and experience with shared identity tooling (Keycloak/OIDC) is a significant plus.
