We’re seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to join our growing Cloud Platform Team that is defining the direction for the future of Builts infrastructure and developer experience as we continually strive to improve our processes. In this role you will work to empower our software engineers by implementing the tooling and infrastructure necessary to support team members as well as proactively mentoring engineering about what it means to create resilient, scalable solutions. In This Role, You Will:
- Work on a platform engineering team which supports the development of performant and reliable applications across Built.
- Proactively identify new opportunities and advocate for and implement improvements to the current state of projects — potentially having broader business impact across teams or products.
- Understand the tradeoffs of build vs buy and can vision how we combine these technologies to solve problems.
- Work with the DevOps Manager and Information Security team members to ensure that our infrastructure meets compliance requirements and engineering best practices
- Coaching/Mentorship - Provide technical guidance and educate team members and coworkers on development and operations
- Work with developers to design the appropriate infrastructure and systems architecture to support the best-case business product
- Assist with ongoing migration to Kubernetes
- Identifying and deploying cybersecurity measures by continuously performing vulnerability assessment and risk management
Qualifications:
- 5+ years as a DevOps Engineer, Site Reliability Engineer or Cloud Engineer
- 5+ years experience in AWS (EC2, ECS, Kinesis, EKS, Lambda, SQS) and working with Kubernetes in a production environment
- 3+ years experience in SaaS, PaaS or IaaS
- 3+ years experience of Object oriented application development (preferably NodeJS & Python)
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or relevant years of work experience
- Experience with event driven architectures and microservices at scale
- Experience with Terraform or other IaC tools such as CloudFormation, Pulumi, CDK
- Experience with GitHub Actions or other CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, CircleCI
- Ability to use containers and orchestration frameworks (Kubernetes, Docker, Container registries etc.)
- Experience with configuring, customizing, and extending monitoring tools (Datadog, ELK, Prometheus, etc.)
- Excellent debugging and troubleshooting skills
- Strong technical competency, with a data-driven analytical approach towards solving complex challenges
Built’s salary range for this position is $150,000-$175,000 USD per year. The pay range is designed to accommodate upward mobility in the role, therefore it encompasses the full span of proficiency levels for this role and we believe that the midpoint of the range is competitive in the market. Salary is just one component of Built's total compensation package for employees.
