Built is looking for a Software Engineer II to join our NGP team. In this role, you will be focused on unlocking Built's largest revenue opportunities through working alongside other talented engineers to deliver features in a sustainable, scalable way. The team is responsible for developing products that allow seamless connections between internal and external systems. Their goal is to empower users to create customized data pipelines by easily linking various products and services as needed. You will create new or extend existing React micro frontends, Node product APIs, Data pipelines in Python, and services backed by MySQL or DynamoDB as we shift towards an event-driven architecture. Outside of standard sprint cadence meetings (10% of your time), the large majority of your time will be spent in the code and collaborating with your team. You should feel comfortable taking ownership of your code, monitoring performance, writing documentation, and holding others to your high standards.
Responsibilities:
- Work on a team implementing practical solutions for large-scale problems, as well as everyday quality of life issues to support our next generation platform (iPaaS) for building integrations with customer systems
- Develop in a full stack software system which includes backend systems (Python, AWS), web applications (React Js), REST APIs, and microservices
- Write tests for newly implemented code to maintain product integrity
- Ensure code quality, organization, and automation in our code bases
- Participate in code reviews
- Dig into project requirements and provide task time estimates
- Collaborate and maintain a high standard of communication with team members, designers, and product managers to provide end-to-end solution
- Contribute to major frontend & backend features that our customers use every day
- Develop new features and enhance existing features in one of our core domains. We are building AI features into the platform, so having knowledge of Generative and Agentic AI will be a big plus.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience with building customer facing React applications, ideally leveraging TypeScript
- Experience building production backend API’s supporting customer facing features
- Full-stack development is strongly preferred, but mastery of front-end with the desire to achieve full-stack competency is possible.
- A passion for building quality, testable code leveraging automation and a habit for actively improving the quality of a codebase “in passing."
A “player-coach” mentality, capable of simultaneously making strong technical contributions while mentoring others within the context of small cross-functional teams. - Excellent troubleshooting skills, especially within website, application servers,
network, and databases - A strong focus on our customers, both internal and external.
- High ownership and accountability of delivery and your work product.
- Optionally, experience with a refactoring initiative or contributing to a legacy codebase.
- Experience working in a growing company, Start-Up or Growth Stage
Tech Stack:
- Frontend development is built on React, Redux, TypeScript, Jest, Enzyme, Selenium.
- Services are Built on Python, Docker, and AWS.
- Gateway APIs are built on NodeJS, using Express and TypeScript
- Familiarity with containerization tools (Docker, Kubernetes, AWS ECS)
- We care a lot about quality and safety in our codebase.
Built’s salary range for this position is $120,000 - $150,000 USD per year. The pay range is designed to accommodate upward mobility in the role, therefore it encompasses the full span of proficiency levels for this role and we believe that the midpoint of the range is competitive in the market. Salary is just one component of Built's total compensation package for employees.
