Contracts Manager

Legal, Risk & Compliance

About the Role

Built's legal function sits at the center of every deal, partnership, and vendor relationship the company runs, and it moves fast. As Contract Manager, you'll be the operational backbone of Built's commercial contracting: negotiating SaaS agreements, MSAs, NDAs, and vendor contracts, staying ahead of product and pricing changes before they become contract problems, and navigating the specific, complex procurement requirements of large financial institutions.

This is a high-ownership role for someone who redlines confidently, inserts themselves into business conversations proactively, and genuinely enjoys the place where legal precision meets commercial speed. You'll work directly with our Head of Legal, Risk & Compliance and have real ownership over a meaningful portion of Built's contract portfolio from day one.

What You'll Do

  • Review, redline, and negotiate a high volume of commercial agreements: SaaS subscriptions, MSAs, NDAs, strategic partnerships, vendor contracts, and data licensing terms
  • Partner with Sales and RevOps to support deal execution; acting as a trusted, practical advisor on contract risk and structure while keeping deals moving
  • Stay proactively ahead of product and pricing changes by engaging with Product, RevOps, and Go-to-Market teams before changes become contract problems
  • Navigate bank and financial institution procurement. Built sells to large FIs with specific, complex requirements, and this role requires confidence negotiating with firm counterparties
  • Own the contract lifecycle in Ironclad: track key terms, renewal windows, compliance obligations, and amendments across Sales and Procurement
  • Build and maintain contract templates, playbooks, and best practices that scale with the business and accurately reflect what Built is selling
  • Use AI tools to accelerate drafting, redline review, and contract analysis, and proactively identify opportunities to push operational leverage further
  • Provide practical guidance on regulatory considerations and risk exposure to help business teams move fast without creating undue liability
  • Design and deliver internal training on contract-related topics to enable Sales, Finance, and Operations teams across the company

What We're Looking For

Must-Have

  • 3+ years of hands-on contract management experience: drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial agreements (not contract administration)
  • Confidence negotiating a broad range of commercial contracts well beyond NDAs: SaaS agreements, vendor contracts, MSAs
  • Experience partnering closely with Sales teams in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational instincts; able to manage high volume and competing deadlines without things slipping
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; able to engage effectively across all levels of the business
  • Comfort using AI tools in contract or legal work: drafting, analysis, summarization, or workflow automation
  • Bachelor's degree

Strong Differentiators

  • Background in SaaS, fintech, or highly regulated industries
  • Experience navigating bank or financial institution procurement processes
  • Familiarity with Ironclad, DocuSign, or comparable CLM tools
  • Demonstrated ability to improve contract processes, templates, or workflows for efficiency and scale
  • Prior exposure to venture- or private equity-backed companies; background working with financial institutions or lenders

What We're Not Looking For

Attorneys without operational contracting depth, or candidates whose titles say "contract manager" but whose actual work has been primarily administrative. This role requires someone who gets their hands dirty redlining across a broad range of commercial agreements, not just NDAs.

Why This Role

You'll work directly with Built's Head of Legal, Risk & Compliance, with real ownership over a meaningful slice of the company's commercial portfolio from day one. Built's legal team has built an unusually high level of trust across the organization; this isn't an order-taking function. The faster contracts close, the faster Built grows, and this role sits right at that intersection.

  • High impact. Your work directly influences deal execution speed and revenue growth.
  • Real ownership. You'll manage a meaningful contract portfolio autonomously, not as a support function.
  • Cross-functional exposure. You'll work across Sales, RevOps, Product, Finance, and Legal, and be trusted by all of them.
  • Industry depth. Fintech and construction finance contracting is genuinely complex, and expertise in it is valuable.
  • Growth path. For a high performer, there's a clear trajectory toward senior contract management or legal operations leadership as the function scales.

Our Guiding Principles

  • Be Bold. We pursue the biggest problems in our industry, challenge assumptions others take for granted, and take calculated risks to get there. We don't hide behind consensus or committees. Playing it safe is just failing slowly.
  • Help Customers Win. We learn our customers' businesses deeply — how they think, how they deploy capital, what keeps them up at night. We treat their capital like our own. We ship leverage, not features. And we measure ourselves by customer results, not our intentions.
  • Move with Urgency & Purpose. We bias toward delivery over perfection, remove friction from our own paths, and communicate in real time. Momentum compounds — and we build it every day.
  • Own the Outcome. We own outcomes, not just tasks. We hold a high Say:Do ratio and take responsibility from idea through impact. When something breaks, we fix it — we don't wait to be asked.
  • Never Satisfied. We raise the bar continuously. We stay curious, hold exacting standards, debate hard, and hold our opinions loosely when the evidence shifts. Excellence is a habit, not an event.

Built’s salary range for this position is $90,000 - $150,000 USD per year. The pay range is designed to accommodate upward mobility in the role, therefore it encompasses the full span of proficiency levels for this role and we believe that the midpoint of the range is competitive in the market. Salary is just one component of Built's total compensation package for employees; your total rewards package at Built will include equity, market-current medical, dental and vision coverage, an unlimited PTO policy, and other benefits.

Travel Requirement:
If the role isn't required to be hybrid or on-site, non-local candidates (not based in Nashville metro) must be able to travel at minimum twice per year to Nashville, TN or another designated location for company-wide events (e.g., "Connect Week"). Additional travel may be required based on business needs and role responsibilities.

Perks:

  • The rare opportunity to radically disrupt a $1.5T industry
  • Competitive benefits including: uncapped vacation [US ONLY], health, dental & vision insurance
  • Robust compensation package, including equity in the form of stock options
  • Learning Grant program to support ongoing professional development
  • 401k with match and expedited vesting [US ONLY]

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
