Title: Senior Data Software Engineer, Platform Engineering

Reporting to: Senior Director, Product Development
Location: Bengaluru (Bangalore)

Opportunity:

Get Well is seeking a technically adept Senior Data Software Engineer, Platform Engineering to design, develop and optimize our cloud-native data platform supporting AI, analytics, and clinical applications. This role will work with the architect and implement scalable, secure, and high-performance data pipelines and processing systems within a regulated healthcare environment. 

The Senior Software Data Engineer will focus on building and optimizing data processing workflows, ensuring data quality, and adhering to healthcare compliance standards such as HIPAA and GDPR. This position requires strong technical expertise in data engineering, proficiency in cloud-based tools, and familiarity with healthcare data standards, with an emphasis on collaboration and execution of architectural designs.

Responsibilities:

Data Pipeline Development & Optimization

  • Build, test, and maintain robust data pipelines for both batch and streaming data processing, utilizing tools such as Apache Spark, Databricks, or Snowflake.
  • Implement data ingestion, transformation, and storage processes as defined by the Staff Engineer/Software Architect to support AI, analytics, and clinical applications.
  • Optimize data workflows for performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency, ensuring alignment with enterprise data platform goals.
  • Leverage orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, dbt) to automate and monitor data pipeline operations.

Data Quality & Compliance

Collaborate with the Staff Engineer and governance teams to implement data quality checks, validation, and lineage tracking to ensure accuracy and reliability.Adhere to healthcare regulatory requirements (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR) by implementing secure data handling, encryption, and access control measures.Support metadata management and data cataloging to enhance data discoverability and stewardship.

Technical Implementation & Collaboration

  • Participate in code reviews, debugging, and performance tuning to maintain high standards of code quality and system reliability.
  • Contribute to agile development practices, including sprint planning, stand-ups, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Mentor junior engineers to foster technical growth and ensure alignment with best practices in data engineering.
  • Optimize data processing systems for performance, reliability, and reusability.

Innovation & Technical Expertise

  • Stay updated about emerging trends in data engineering, cloud-native architectures, and healthcare data standards.
  • Prototype and evaluate modern data frameworks and tools (e.g., Delta Lake, Apache Iceberg) to enhance platform capabilities.
  • Advocate for best practices in data platform design to ensure scalability, explainability, and compliance in AI-driven systems.

Requirements:

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline
  • 5+ years of experience with at least 3+ years in data engineering or platform roles
  • Proven track record of designing and implementing cloud-native data processing systems.

Technical Proficiency

  • Strong proficiency in Python, Scala, SQL, and distributed data processing frameworks such as Apache Spark.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., Databricks, Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift).
  • Familiarity with data orchestration tools such as Airflow or dbt.
  • Good to have : Hands-on expertise in healthcare data standards including FHIR, HL7, USCDI, and CCDA
  • Good to have: Familiarity with clinical coding systems and ontologies, such as ICD-10, SNOMED CT, LOINC, or RxNorm.
