
Human Resources Manager

You will be the empathetic and reliable go-to for any requests from ‘Spoons’ as they navigate our HRIS and benefits and go through onboarding & offboarding processes. You will own Open Enrollment, our summer internship program, and our mentorship program. The HR Manager also partners closely with other functions on DEI and programming efforts.
On the recruiting side, you are a master matchmaker and eager to help attract the best and brightest talent in the industry. You will own the full lifecycle of the recruitment process, as well as be an ambassador for the agency to the outside world. You will always have your finger on the pulse of the advertising industry at large and will be constantly developing trusted relationships with internal hiring managers across the agency. A master multitasker, you will be able to keep everyone organized with ease, while keeping the candidate experience top of mind.

This is a hybrid role located in New York. We work in the office together on Tuesday, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Responsibilities
Human Resources
- Manage onboarding process for regular and temporary hires, partnering closely with IT, Payroll and Office Management.
- Advise employees on People processes and offerings, such as on navigating our HRIS, payroll, expense reimbursements, leaves, immigration etc.
- Act as the benefits point of contact to employees, advise on how to use our offerings, and manage the annual Open Enrollment process.
- Manage selected Employee Relations and Performance cases.
- Track changes in labor law and compliance matters, interpret impact and suggest necessary policies or policy adjustments.
- Manage offboarding process for voluntary departures, including exit interviews.
- Manage offboarding process for involuntary departures, including termination conversations.
- Manage Giant Spoon’s spring and summer internship programs.
- Manage Giant Spoon’s mentorship program.
- Manage selected People Team DEI programs, with the opportunity to also join Giant Spoon’s DEI council.
- Manage selected Learning & Development initiatives.
- Assist with bi-annual goal setting conversations, including set-up, communication and employee/manager guidance.
- Assist with compensation management, including compensation research and advising managers on salary bands and employee placements.
- Assist with people analytics and quarterly reporting.
- Proactively and continuously improve People Team process and offerings, with the employee experience in mind.
Recruiting
- Own full cycle recruitment across a variety of departments and levels.
- Quickly gain a basic understanding of the job description, the team, and the context of the role to be filled.
- Screen incoming applicants.
- Source additional talent proactively and invite them to interview.
- Schedule interviews and coordinate with candidates and teams.
- Actively follow up with interviewers to solicit feedback, convey findings to hiring managers and key stakeholders.
- Throughout, keeping hiring managers informed of progress and challenges.
- Customize ATS as needed, communicate with ATS representatives to solve any issues and explore new functions.
- On an ongoing basis, identify and network with industry talent to create a dynamic talent pipeline.
- Coordinate Giant Spoon’s partnerships with colleges and ad schools.
- Represent Giant Spoon at career fairs, networking events and other industry engagements.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience in a generalist Human Resources role in a fast-paced, creative environment
- A minimum of 1 year of experience working in an advertising agency; a basic understanding of agency workflow and capabilities is key in this role.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience covering fast paced, full cycle Recruiting, either in a focused Recruiter role or as part of a generalist Human Resources position; experience covering searches in a variety of agency disciplines is preferred.
- Passionate about improving the holistic employee experience
- Experience working with an HRIS (experience with Justworks a bonus)
- Experience working with an ATS
- Strong knowledge of federal and NY state labor law (knowledge of California state law a bonus)
- Ability to securely handle confidential information
- Ability to effectively prioritize tasks and be resourceful, flexible and quick to adapt in a fast-paced environment
- Acute attention to detail
- Effective written, verbal, and visual communicator
- Ability to foster trusting relationships with employees at all levels
- Ability to think ahead and switch between tactical and strategic tasks with ease
- Digitally connected, passionate about technology and innovation with an insatiable curiosity for how it applies to our industry
- Familiarity with Google Suite, Slack and Microsoft Office
The anticipated annual salary range for this position is $90,000 - $115,000. Salary is determined based on a wide range of factors, including relevant experience, knowledge, skills, job duties, and geographic location.
