VP, Media Strategy
We are seeking a VP, Media Strategy to serve a dual mandate: providing senior strategic oversight across our media planning teams while also elevating the department’s strategic capabilities in audience development, communications planning, and data-driven insights. This person will be both a hands-on leader who ensures day-to-day quality across accounts and a strategic authority who raises the bar for how we think about media.
At Wpromote x Giant Spoon, we believe the line between brand and performance is a false choice. We encourage our clients to prioritize impact over impressions, and to think about media as an integrated system - not a collection of channels. We combine creative ambition with measurement rigor to help brands grow at every stage of the funnel.
The ideal candidate combines deep media strategy expertise with the leadership presence to command a room. They understand the full media landscape - from linear and connected TV to programmatic, social, audio, and emerging channels - and can translate audience insights and data into strategic frameworks that drive business outcomes. They have a strong point of view on how brand and performance media work together, and can articulate measurement approaches that give clients confidence in their investment. This person is equally comfortable leading a client presentation, mentoring a junior planner, and pressure-testing a comms plan.
We are looking for someone with a creative and entrepreneurial drive who thrives on the complexity of managing multiple accounts simultaneously. This role requires proven managerial experience and a genuine passion for developing junior talent into strong media strategists. The ideal candidate is someone who is ready to become a Spoon - to give a damn, try anything, and enjoy the people they are working with.
This position will be working out of our NY office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

- Provide day-to-day strategic oversight and quality control across media planning teams working on multiple client accounts, ensuring strategic consistency and rigor.
- Lead the development of insight-driven media strategies grounded in audience data, cultural context, and measurable business outcomes.
- Act as a trusted media advisor to clients, building senior-level relationships and commanding the room in presentations, strategic reviews, and annual planning sessions.
- Support new business pitches with compelling media strategies and frameworks that demonstrate the agency’s differentiated approach to integrated media.
- Partner with performance media, analytics, and creative teams to ensure integrated planning and measurement coherence across the full funnel.
- Drive the evolution of the department’s strategic capabilities - including audience segmentation frameworks, comms planning methodologies, and investment allocation approaches.
- Ensure the work is achieving our clients’ broader business and marketing goals, connecting media activity to revenue and growth outcomes.
- Synthesize complex media landscapes, data, and competitive dynamics into clear, actionable strategic recommendations for both clients and internal teams.
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and career development guidance for Media team members.

- Deep understanding of the full media landscape: linear and connected TV, digital video, programmatic, social, audio, OOH, and emerging channels.
- Demonstrated expertise in audience strategy, segmentation, and data-informed planning approaches.
- Working knowledge of media measurement frameworks including marketing mix modeling (MMM), attribution, incrementality testing, and brand lift studies.
- Strong understanding of how brand and performance media work together across the funnel, with the ability to articulate investment trade-offs to clients and internal stakeholders.
- Passionate about cultivating a deep, proactive understanding of the media landscape, consumer behavior, and competitive dynamics - and leveraging that knowledge to identify growth opportunities.
- A commanding communicator who can build trust and confidence with senior clients and C-suite stakeholders.
- Excellent presentation, deck creation, and storytelling skills - able to translate complex media strategies into clear, persuasive narratives.
- Intellectually curious about the evolving media ecosystem, with a bias toward testing new approaches in audience targeting, measurement, and channel innovation.
