Based in London/Dubai, the Mobility Specialist will support the Firm’s global mobility with a particular emphasis on the tax, social security, and regulatory aspects of cross-border employee movements. This role will work closely with Tax, Human Resources, Finance, Payroll, and external advisors to ensure that all international assignments and business travel arrangements are structured and administered in a compliant, efficient, and commercially sound manner. Immigration aspects will be managed in coordination with designated internal teams.

Responsibilities include:

Global Mobility, Tax & Immigration Compliance

  • Manage the tax aspects of international assignments, secondments, and cross-border remote working arrangements.
  • Monitor and assess permanent establishment (PE) risk, corporate tax exposure, and employer obligations, including application of relevant double taxation treaties and local law.
  • Provide guidance on applicable social security regimes and employer obligations in host jurisdictions.
  • Coordinate with internal immigration teams and external counsel and vendors to ensure appropriate work authorization, visa sponsorship, and residency compliance for international moves.
  • Track visa expiry dates and immigration requirements, ensuring timely renewals and adherence to local regulatory obligations.

Assignment Structuring & Advisory

  • Support the structuring of international assignments, including cost projections, tax implications, immigration considerations, and policy application.
  • Advise HR and business stakeholders on mobility-related tax considerations, with immigration aspects addressed in coordination with internal subject-matter teams, including short-term business travel, relocations, and hybrid work arrangements.
  • Assist in the development and refinement of global mobility policies, incorporating tax efficiency and immigration compliance.
  • Review existing mobility practices and provide recommendations for improvement and increased efficiency.
  • Develop and implement structured frameworks for preliminary assessments and decision-making process.
  • Lead the creation of mobility “roadmaps” for new and complex moves, enabling early-stage planning and proactive risk mitigation.
  • Bring a commercially minded perspective to mobility decision-making, ensuring advice is grounded not only in compliance, but in what is practical, proportionate, and aligned to business outcomes.

Vendor & Stakeholder Management

  • Act as a primary point of contact for external tax, legal and immigration providers.
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders across HR, Finance, and Compliance.
  • Ensure timely and accurate communication with assignees regarding tax obligations, immigration requirements, and mobility processes.

Risk Management & Governance

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of international tax, immigration, and mobility developments.
  • Identify and escalate potential compliance risks and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Tax or a related field; advanced degree or professional qualification (e.g., CTA, ACA, CPA) preferred.
  • 3–7 years of experience in global mobility or international HR, ideally within a law firm, professional services firm, or multinational organization.
  • Strong understanding of international taxation, social security frameworks, and working knowledge of immigration processes and requirements across key jurisdictions.
  • Experience working with external tax and immigration advisors and managing cross-border payroll processes.

Experience:

  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate complex tax and immigration concepts clearly to non-specialist stakeholders.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines.
  • Professional judgment and discretion in handling confidential information.
  • Collaborative approach with a strong client-service mindset.
