What you'll do
The Supplier Industrialization Engineer (SIE) is Giga's manufacturing engineering expert for switchboard production — metal enclosures, busbars, and wiring assembly. You will own how these products get built: developing manufacturing instructions and SOPs, working directly with our Mexico contract manufacturer and Long Beach team to scale production, and solving process problems on the floor. This is a hands-on, high-visibility role at the center of our switchboard manufacturing ramp.
Responsibilities
- Own manufacturing engineering for metal enclosure fabrication, busbar processing (cutting, bending, plating), and wiring/harness assembly
- Write and maintain manufacturing instructions, work instructions, and SOPs for switchboard build processes
- Lead process setup and first article inspection (FAI) for new products and engineering changes
- Conduct DFM/DFA reviews with engineering; translate design intent into manufacturable specs and supplier work instructions
- Qualify tooling, fixtures, and test equipment at the Mexico CM and Long Beach facility
- Support production ramp at the Mexico CM and Long Beach line — identify bottlenecks and drive throughput, yield, and cycle-time improvements
- Conduct process audits at the Mexico CM and LA-area suppliers against Giga's quality and process standards
- Track process capability (Cpk/Ppk) for critical dimensions on enclosures and busbars; define and enforce control plans
- Issue and manage SCARs; drive 8D root cause and CAPA to closure
- Partner with engineering on drawing and specification reviews; flag manufacturability and quality risks early
- Define incoming inspection criteria and AQL sampling plans for enclosure, busbar, and wiring components
- Work with the quality team to integrate supplier and process data into the NCR/CAPA system
Requirements
- 5+ years in manufacturing engineering or supplier industrialization, ideally with metal enclosures, busbars, or electrical panel/switchboard assembly
- Hands-on experience writing manufacturing instructions, SOPs, and work instructions for a production floor
- Familiarity with sheet metal fabrication, busbar processing, and wire harness/assembly processes
- Working knowledge of APQP, PPAP, FAI, SCAR, 8D/CAPA, and AQL sampling (ANSI/ASQ Z1.4)
- Comfortable working directly with a contract manufacturer in Mexico; willingness to travel regularly
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings (GD&T), and BOMs
- Strong written and verbal communication; Spanish language skills a plus
Benefits
- Subsidized health, dental, and vision insurance
- Equity (options) in a rapidly growing startup
- 401(k) with 4% employer match
- Unlimited PTO
- Parental leave
- Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) or Health Savings Account (HSA)
- Commuter benefits
- Monthly team onsites where all offices come in–person to collaborate
Who we hire
We hire people who thrive in chaos and get sharper under pressure. You don't wait to be told what to do, you spot the gap and fill it. When there's work to be done, you do it. You make decisions with the information you have, move fast, and adjust along the way. We're not looking for perfect; we're looking for people who get things done.
