Senior Product Owner, Media Asset Management

The Role

Our client is one of the world’s leading media companies, with a 24-hour English-language news channel, and they are looking for a Senior Product Owner to join their team.

The Senior Product Owner will play a pivotal role for our client, focusing on the strategic and operational management of their Media Asset Management (MAM) systems. This role requires a customer-centric individual with a deep understanding of media workflows and asset management technologies and the ability to oversee the development and enhancement of their media management tools.

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Strategic Planning: Develop and maintain a strategic vision for managing and enhancing media assets that align with company goals.
  • Product Development: Lead the design and implementation of MAM solutions, ensuring they meet industry standards and business requirements.
  • Backlog Management: Effectively prioritize the product backlog, ensuring clear documentation and alignment with product strategy.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary liaison between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring clear and impactful
    communication across all levels of the organization.
  • Change Management: Drive change initiatives through a customer-centric approach, facilitating smooth adoption and maximizing user satisfaction.
  • Performance Metrics: Define and track key performance indicators to evaluate the effectiveness of media asset management strategies and tools.

 

Qualifications

  • Media Asset Management Expertise: Extensive experience with MAM systems, including implementation, migration, and optimization. This is essential for this role!
  • Design Systems Thinking: Strong capability in systems thinking, understanding, and improving the interaction between various components within digital and media ecosystems.
  • Technical Proficiency: Solid technical background with an understanding of software development practices and web technologies.

 

Required Skills 

  • Fluent in Arabic and English, as well as verbal and written skills.
  • Written Documentation: Ability to produce clear and detailed documentation that captures complex processes and systems.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Exceptional skill in engaging and communicating with stakeholders at all levels to gather requirements, provide updates, and foster strong relationships.
  • Emphasis on clarity and consistency in messaging to ensure alignment and support for project goals.
  • Epic and Story Authorship: Expertise in crafting well-defined epics and user stories that effectively guide development teams.
  • Backlog Management: Skilled in prioritizing and refining the product backlog to ensure focus on high-impact tasks.
  • Change Management: Proven ability to manage change by integrating feedback from users and stakeholders into product development, emphasizing a customer-centric approach to encourage adoption and satisfaction.
  • Leadership and Collaboration: Ability to lead cross-functional teams and promote teamwork and collaboration within a dynamic working environment.

Education and experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Digital Media, or related field; Master’s preferred.
  • At least six years of experience as a Product Owner or similar role in a digital media-related industry, with demonstrated success in managing large-scale MAM systems.
  • Experience building cloud solutions (GCP, Azure, AWS) is a must.
  • Experience with Arvato/Vidispine or other cloud-based MAM solutions is expected.

  • Screening interview with the client's hiring manager (30 min)
  • Interview with an Engineering Leader / Quality Leader / Product Owner & peers (30 min)
  • Final interview (30 min)
  • There might be an additional interview with the CTO if needed

What we offer

  • Remote, full-time (40h/week). Must be able to work in Qatar Time (UTC +3) office hours.
