We are looking for SRE Support Engineers interested in joining the Gigster Talent Network and being considered for exciting upcoming projects with one of our largest clients.
We'll need to cover different time zones - some candidates would work on Pacific Time (think California) office hours while others on UK office hours, so if one of these work hours make sense to you, please continue reading our job description!
By being a member of the Gigster Network you'll have access to amazing client projects where you would successfully support their internal IaaS. Successful candidates can provide a wide range of services from “white glove” onboarding to creating informational posts on the community support platform, and everything in between. Additionally, SRE Support Engineers will actively participate in developing the support tools and process, so we are looking for someone with the maturity to understand what it takes to scale in services.
Key Qualifications/Experience
Robust level of spoken and written English.
Several years of experience (ideally 5 or more) in supporting highly scalable applications and web services.
Experience working with Cloud technologies (AWS mandatory, Google Cloud - nice to have).
Hands-on experience with open-source technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker (mandatory), Spark, and Kafka (at least basic knowledge of these two).
Kubernetes: Extensive experience in deploying, managing, and scaling applications using Kubernetes. Familiarity with Helm, Kustomize, or similar tools.
Deep understanding and hands-on experience with Linux administration, scripting (Bash, Python or any similar programming/scripting language), and troubleshooting.
Networking: Understanding of network protocols, DNS, load balancing, and related technologies.
Comfortable working with a very technical customer base.
Comfortable providing a wide range of support, from simple issue resolution to end-to-end onboarding.
Strong familiarity with modern server technologies and architectures.
Strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Strong attention to detail.
Excellent analytical capabilities.
Passionate about Technical Support.
Strong troubleshooting experience.
Ability to work as an independent contractor for a US company
Nice To Have
Observability and logging tools experience like Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, Splunk, etc.
Hands-on experience with Relational Database Management Systems.
Certifications: Relevant certifications such as CKA (Certified Kubernetes Administrator), CKAD (Certified Kubernetes Application Developer), or Linux Professional Institute Certification (LPIC).
Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Familiarity with tools like Terraform, Ansible, or Puppet.
Responsibilities
Work cross-functionally with customers and partners to address complex customer questions and drive incidents to resolution.
Troubleshoot, isolate, and resolve container orchestration/management issues, specifically Docker and Kubernetes.
Troubleshoot, isolate, and resolve complex application deployment issues.
Analyze and categorize customer interaction trends to provide accurate and meaningful feedback to Engineering and SRE organizations.
Build knowledge base articles.
Participate in post-mortem reviews, and drive ongoing improvement.
Obsess over minute details to drive operational excellence in every aspect of your work.
Make meaningful and significant contributions to our client’s development of objectives and goals.
Work on complex issues, analyzing situations or data that require in-depth evaluation.
Your expertise and discretion will be required to think outside the box and resolve highly complex issues creatively and effectively.
Work hours are either from 8 AM to 5 PM United Kingdom time or from 8 AM to 5 PM Pacific time, Monday to Friday. While there is no on-call, if there’s any maintenance during the weekend you will need to be available, and then you'll get time off to compensate for that.

Responsibilities
Leading, planning, and implementing with team members and IT, data and cloud designs, given data sources, data locations, and use cases.
Processing logs into data platforms, analytics, and custom visualizations for large-scale data analysis.
Design and implement framework modules to extract data from various source systems, validate the integrity, apply business transformation, and store data in a Data Lake (AWS, Azure, others)
Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
Familiarity with the three major Cloud Providers (AWS, Azure, and GCP) and their product suites.
Requirements:

We are looking for an experienced Platform Engineer to join our team. This role involves designing and building scalable infrastructure while ensuring reliability and performance across critical systems and services. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software engineering and platform reliability, with a deep understanding of core system components. They should be flexible in taking on diverse tasks across different technologies and easily handle context-switching.
Key Responsibilities:
Platform Design and Infrastructure:
Design, develop, and maintain reliable and scalable infrastructure solutions.
Partner with engineering teams to ensure platform architecture supports reliability, scalability, and optimal performance.
Evaluate and implement new technologies and tools to enhance the infrastructure.
Monitoring, Incident Response, and Troubleshooting:
Set up, maintain, and improve monitoring and alerting systems to detect issues proactively.
Lead incident response, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis efforts for critical platform issues.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
8+ years of industry experience, including roles as a Software Engineer, SRE, or Platform Engineer.
At least 3+ years of experience in platform engineering, SRE, or infrastructure roles with large-scale, mission-critical environments.
Technical Skills:
Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix systems, networking, and core system internals.
Experience with one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, Go, Java).
Advanced skills in Bash scripting for task automation.
Proficiency with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack).
Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools and workflows (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI).
