We're seeking an inventive and polished Sr. Game Designer to join our team. You will work inside our Learn pod and focus on creating engaging experiences for students that make learning simpler, enjoyable, efficient, and personalized. The Learn pod is highly collaborative and likes to move swiftly on ideas. Your work will make an immediate impact on an area of the app with the most growth potential. We ship often and efficiently; your designs will reach millions of people and make a meaningful impact. What You'll Do:
- Ideate, prototype, and refine engaging mini-games and gamified experiences aimed at improving the learning experience.
- Collaborate closely with Product, Engineers, and other designers to integrate game-based experiences seamlessly into our product.
- Produce highly polished interactions and animations, bringing compelling ideas to life.
- Leverage data-driven insights, running tests and iterating rapidly to achieve measurable improvements in user engagement and retention.
- Present concepts and articulate design decisions clearly and persuasively to cross-functional teams.
What We're Looking For:
- 5+ years of professional experience working on game design, game mechanics, or interactive gaming experiences.
- Demonstrated skill in designing polished and intuitive interfaces, interactions, animations, and game experiences.
- Strong prototyping skills using industry-standard design tools (Figma, Adobe CC, Unity, etc.).
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills — you’ll be collaborating with others and presenting your work regularly.
Bonus Points:
- Background in educational games or gamified learning products.
- Familiarity with user research methodologies to validate and iterate on designs effectively.
For this position we are targeting a base pay between $130K – $185K. Actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
This role follows a hybrid model, with a minimum of two days onsite at our downtown San Francisco office and flexibility to work remotely from home the rest of the week.
