Production Supervisor (GI/Pathfinder)
Neptune Medical is an innovative and ambitious venture capital-funded Silicon Valley medical device start-up creating next-generation gastroenterology systems. We design, manufacture, and commercialize medical devices based on our proprietary Dynamic Rigidization™ technology that instantly toggles thin-walled tubes between flexible and rigid states. Pathfinder® is our first FDA-cleared device and is used in diagnostic and therapeutic GI endoscopy procedures.
TITLE: Production Supervisor (GI/Pathfinder)
POSITION SUMMARY: The candidate will manage and lead a team of 5-7 operators for Neptune Medical’s commercial manufacturing. Supervisor responsibilities include orchestrating build plans, reporting on metrics, prioritizing and organizing day-to-day tasks, working with engineers to establish and communicate timelines and schedules, as well as creating efficient workflows for production assembly.
The ideal candidate would demonstrate the ability to meet and exceed the below requirements, would show a high level of individual responsibility as well as leadership for the team, and would act with passion and intensity in a fast-paced and collaborative medical device start-up.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manages and leads a team of 5-7 production operators.
- Completes administrative activities such as time reporting/approvals, attendance control, and vacation planning/approvals.
- Evaluates employee performance and provides necessary coaching, feedback and disciplinary actions. Responsible for writing and delivering annual performance reviews.
- Conducts daily to weekly team meetings to review team performance and celebrate successes.
- Implements training schedules, assessments, and leads onboarding of new operators.
- Works cross functionally with engineers, technicians, and other manufacturing teams to develop and execute build schedules for on-time finished device delivery.
- Provides feedback to improve assembly processes, build efficiency, and yield.
- Offers input on capital equipment, tooling, and labor needs to support Engineering and Production builds, scale-up activities, and commercial manufacturing excellence.
- Prioritize and divide day-to-day tasks amongst operators to ensure efficient and effective use of resources.
- Reviews issues with engineers and uses resources to resolve process, maintenance, equipment, and related technical problems.
- Works with quality team to ensure inventory for builds is accounted for and to keep the cross-functional team aware of any potential shortages or risks of raw material impact to production.
- Fosters a community of integrity, respect, positivity, and honesty.
- Familiar with medical device documentation such as SOP’s, MPI’s, LHR’s, QIP’s, Part specifications, Inspections, etc.
- Comfortable with following an MPI and working on the line (hands-on) when there is downtime.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 15 years working in the medical device industry in a NPI, manufacturing, or operations role.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Languages: Full professional proficiency in English
- Experience with manufacturing processes such as braiding, coil winding, lamination, adhesive joining, coating, and precision assembly.
- Experience using dimensional/visual inspection equipment, gage pins, calipers, etc.
- Positive demeanor with a strong work ethic and desire to be a big part of a growing organization.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) software applications.
- Strong judgment and decision-making skills, with the ability to balance development priorities, timelines, and resource constraints.
- Demonstrated ability to coach, train, and develop operators in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Comfortable working Mon – Fri with a 6 AM to 9 AM start time.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Excellent assembly skills.
- Familiarity with cGMP and ISO13485 rules and regulations
- Previous management and supervision experience.
- Experience with NetSuite ERP System.
- Experience supporting medical device and capital equipment BOMs.
- Experience creating and/or redlining MPIs and LHRs.
- Experience in a start-up environment.
Neptune Medical is located in Burlingame, CA, near the Millbrae Caltrain and BART Station.
Our job titles may span more than one career level. The starting base salary for this role is between $90,000 and $120,000 depending on experience. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: education, training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, and location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
