Electromechanical Technician

Los Angeles, California, United States

About GITAI:

Humanity has been developing horizontally on Earth, but we believe now is the time to expand vertically. With the decreasing costs of space access, the possibilities for exploration and utilization of space are expanding exponentially. At GITAI, we are at the cutting edge of this vertical development, providing the robotic technologies that enable safe and affordable labor in space. Our space robot solution reduces the operational cost in space by 100 times and will make sustained human presence and activity in space a reality.

Mission

As an Electromechanical Technician, your mission is to bring our robotic systems to life through precise, hands-on work at the intersection of mechanical assembly and electrical integration. You’ll work closely with our engineers and AIT team to build, test, and iterate hardware that performs reliably in extreme environments—from Earth-based testing facilities to outer space.

What You’ll Drive

  • Assemble, install, and test prototypes and flight hardware for electro-mechanical space systems, including spacecraft, robotic arms, rovers, subsystems, components, electrical harnesses, and related test equipment—with a strong emphasis on precision and quality.
  • Perform electrical wiring, soldering, and harnessing tasks in accordance with technical drawings, schematics, and work instructions.
  • Conduct incoming inspections of CNC-machined parts, Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBAs), and other components to verify conformance to quality standards.
  • Collaborate with engineers to refine build instructions and continuously improve assembly and manufacturing processes for better throughput and reliability.
  • Support testing and evaluation activities for prototypes, flight hardware, and ground support equipment throughout various phases of the project lifecycle.
  • Maintain an organized, clean, and safe laboratory and workshop environment.
  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and technical documentation in support of all activities above.

Why It Matters

Every robot we send into space is only as good as the hands that built it. Your work directly impacts the reliability, performance, and success of missions that push the boundaries of what’s possible in space. At GITAI, technicians aren’t just following instructions—they’re solving problems, building systems from the ground up, and shaping the future of off-planet labor.

What We’re Looking For

  • High School Diploma or equivalency certificate is required.
  • At least 1 year of hands-on electromechanical technician experience in a pre-Series B startup.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.
  • Skilled in the use of hand tools, torque wrenches, soldering tools, multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other relevant tools.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows operating systems and the Microsoft Office suite to effectively communicate, document, and analyze project-related data.
  • Startup mindset: resourceful, self-directed, adaptable, and execution-oriented.
  • Passion for robotics and space, with a strong sense of ownership and attention to detail.
  • Willingness to work overtime or weekends when mission schedules demand it
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs unassisted during regular hardware integration and handling

Please note: A hands-on assessment involving mechanical assembly and soldering will be part of the interview process for this role.

Race & Ethnicity Definitions

If you believe you belong to any of the categories of protected veterans listed below, please indicate by making the appropriate selection. As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

A "recently separated veteran" means any veteran during the three-year period beginning on the date of such veteran's discharge or release from active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval, or air service.

An "active duty wartime or campaign badge veteran" means a veteran who served on active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service during a war, or in a campaign or expedition for which a campaign badge has been authorized under the laws administered by the Department of Defense.

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
