An Overview of This Role

GitLab is seeking a VP of Business Systems to lead the strategic vision, architecture, and execution of enterprise systems powering our global go-to-market, customer, and financial operations. Reporting to the CIO, you'll oversee a distributed team of approximately 60 professionals across Sales Systems, Customer Systems, and Finance Systems. Our enterprise systems and processes are the backbone of our company, and this role is an opportunity to not only power those systems but also drive roadmaps for future scaled growth.

As a strategic leader and trusted advisor to the executive team, you'll drive transformational initiatives that enhance Quote-to-Cash, enable usage-based billing, and leverage AI across sales, customer success, and support. You'll establish governance frameworks that balance agility with control, architect solutions integrating our tech stack (Salesforce, Zuora CPQ, NetSuite, Coupa, Zip, Workato, Zendesk, Gainsight), and foster a culture of empowerment and accountability in a fully distributed, async-first organization. This role demands both strategic vision and technical depth—someone who can design system architectures, understand complex data flows, and keep technical teams honest on scope and delivery.

What You'll Do

  • Enterprise Systems Strategy & Roadmap - Develop and execute a comprehensive business systems strategy aligned with GitLab's growth objectives. Define the multi-year roadmap for Sales, Customer, and Finance systems
  • Quote-to-Cash Excellence - Lead improvements and evolution of Quote-to-Cash processes and systems. Drive improvements across CPQ, order management, billing, revenue recognition, and collections to deliver seamless experiences while ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Usage-Based Billing & Monetization - Architect sophisticated usage-based billing capabilities supporting GitLab's consumption models. Partner with Monetization, Fulfillment, and Revenue Accounting to enable flexible pricing, accurate usage tracking, and automated billing.
  • AI-First Transformation - Champion AI and automation integration across Sales, Customer Success, and Support systems. Identify high-impact use cases, establish governance for responsible AI adoption, and measure business outcomes.
  • Systems Governance - Establish enterprise-wide governance frameworks, including architectural standards, integration patterns, data policies, and change control.
  • Technical Architecture & Integration - Design and oversee technical architecture connecting our enterprise applications. Ensure robust, scalable integrations through API-first approaches, optimized data flows, and modern integration patterns.
  • SOX Compliance & Risk Management - Maintain audit-ready systems with robust controls satisfying SOX requirements. Implement security controls, access management, data governance, and audit capabilities while managing vendor risk and regulatory compliance.
  • Team Leadership & Development - Build and inspire high-performing distributed teams of analysts, program managers, developers, and administrators. Foster async-first culture, empower teams through clear frameworks, drive accountability, and develop talent across hybrid insourced/outsourced models.
  • Executive Partnership - Serve as a trusted technology advisor to the executive team and senior leaders. Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions and build consensus across the business

What You'll Bring

  • 15+ years of progressive business systems leadership experience with 7+ years managing multi-functional teams in high-growth technology companies
  • Ability to design system architectures, interpret data flows, evaluate technical scope, and provide technical leadership to engineering teams
  • Extensive experience with SaaS companies operating subscription and consumption business models at a similar scale and growth stages
  • Expert knowledge of Salesforce, NetSuite, Zuora Billing/CPQ, Workato (or similar iPaaS), and related GTM/Finance platforms
  • Proven success implementing Quote-to-Cash processes at scale, including CPQ, order management, billing, revenue recognition, and collections
  • Experience building usage-based billing systems supporting complex consumption models and tiered pricing strategies
  • Track record leading AI and automation initiatives within business systems to drive measurable productivity and business outcomes
  • Strong expertise in SOX compliance and internal controls for business applications in public company environments
  • Proven ability in establishing systems governance frameworks, architectural standards, and integration patterns across complex portfolios
  • Exceptional executive presence with the ability to influence C-level stakeholders and build consensus across cross-functional VP-level leaders
  • Strategic thinker who balances long-term vision with pragmatic execution and thrives in dynamic, fast-paced environments

OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
