An overview of this role

As the Senior Director, Enterprise Technology & AI (ETA) for India, you'll lead and scale GitLab's India hub for our Enterprise Technology & AI organization. You'll focus on delivery excellence, operational rigor, and cultural transformation. You'll be accountable for building and maturing India-based delivery capabilities across Salesforce, CPQ, ERP, data, AI, and other enterprise applications so teams consistently ship high-quality, stable solutions that power GitLab's business. You'll report to the CIO as a key member of the CIO leadership team. In this role, you'll serve as the primary ETA site leader in India, directly managing select delivery teams and partnering with global functional leaders to turn strategy into execution.

You'll shape how our India organization scales by establishing robust engineering and QA frameworks, optimizing distributed delivery models, and championing AI and automation to streamline how teams work. You'll lead significant growth of the ETA India team while maintaining high standards, strengthening governance with strategic delivery partners, and embedding modern engineering practices such as agile, DevOps, and CI/CD across teams. Some examples of our projects:

  • Establishing and scaling India-based delivery frameworks for Salesforce, CPQ, and other enterprise applications to improve quality, reliability, and release velocity
  • Building an AI-first delivery model by piloting and rolling out AI and automation tools that enhance productivity, testing coverage, and operational efficiency across ETA teams
  • Designing and implementing QA and release management standards that reduce defect rates and strengthen production stability for business-critical systems
  • Scaling the ETA India organization, including hiring, onboarding, and developing technical talent while nurturing a high-performance, GitLab-values-aligned culture
  • Creating and refining engineering practices such as agile workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and code review standards in close partnership with global ETA leaders
  • Implementing governance and performance frameworks for India-based vendors and delivery partners to improve service quality and cost-effectiveness
  • Partnering with the CIO leadership team, VP of Business Systems, and VP of Data to translate global ETA strategy into clear execution roadmaps for India operations

What you’ll do

  • Lead and scale Enterprise Technology & AI delivery in India, ensuring consistently high-quality outcomes across Salesforce, CPQ, and other enterprise applications that support GitLab's global business.
  • Establish and continuously improve delivery frameworks, quality metrics, and rigorous QA and release management practices that reduce defects and increase production stability for India-based teams.
  • Serve as the primary ETA site leader for India, driving operational excellence, fostering a collaborative, async-first work environment, and representing India operations within the CIO leadership team.
  • Build, grow, and develop high-performing India-based teams by leading hiring, onboarding, coaching, and talent development, while maintaining a strong, inclusive culture through ongoing growth and scaling.
  • Own and optimize engineering practices and technical standards across India delivery teams, including agile methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, code review processes, documentation, and technical debt management.
  • Champion AI and automation adoption across ETA India, identifying and executing on opportunities to use AI tools to improve productivity, code quality, testing automation, and operational efficiency.
  • Partner closely with global functional leaders such as the VP of Business Systems and VP of Data to translate strategy and roadmaps into executable delivery plans for India, providing clear visibility into progress, risks, and dependencies.
  • Oversee and mature vendor and partner management in India by setting governance models, managing contracts and SLAs, and driving continuous improvement in cost, quality, and delivery performance.

What you’ll bring

  • Extensive experience in business technology and enterprise systems, including leading distributed technology teams supporting global stakeholders.
  • Proven track record scaling India-based technology operations for global stakeholders.
  • Deep expertise across enterprise platforms such as Salesforce (including CPQ), ERP systems (for example, NetSuite or similar), AI tools, IT service management, and integration technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with testing automation, QA practices, and release management processes that improve stability and reduce defects.
  • Strong understanding of agile methodologies, DevOps practices, and CI/CD pipelines, with the ability to set and enforce engineering and delivery standards across multiple teams.
  • Effective leadership and people management skills suitable for a senior director-level role, with experience hiring, mentoring, and developing high-performing technical and operations teams in the India context.
  • Experience managing complex vendor and partner ecosystems, including vendor selection, contract negotiation, SLA management, and performance optimization for India-based delivery.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a matrixed, all-remote environment, partnering with global functional leaders on strategy while owning execution, quality, and outcomes for India-based teams.
