An Overview of This Role

GitLab is seeking a VP of Enterprise Transformation & Finance Strategy to architect and lead the strategic evolution of our Finance function while serving as a key driver of enterprise-wide business transformation as we scale as a public company. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will be Finance's primary partner on GitLab's most strategically significant cross-functional initiatives, including Lead-to-Cash optimization, our transition to a consumption-based business model, and global expansion strategy, working in close partnership with the CRO, CPO, CIO, and executive leadership team to ensure these programs are well-structured, well-governed, and deliver measurable business outcomes.

At its core, this role is Finance-led but enterprise-reaching. You will build and lead the Finance Transformation Office while extending Finance's partnership to serve as a catalyst for enterprise-wide transformation, establishing the governance frameworks, program architecture, and change management capabilities required to execute complex, multi-year initiatives that partner and co-sponsor with  Sales, Revenue Operations, Legal, IT, and GTM. You are equally comfortable influencing a Board-level strategy conversation and rolling up your sleeves to drive execution in a fully distributed, async-first environment.

This role is critical to ensuring GitLab operates with the speed, efficiency, and sophistication required of a high-performing public technology company navigating a transformational moment in its growth.

What You'll Do

  • Enterprise Transformation Leadership: Serve as the CFO's key partner on GitLab's most strategically significant cross-functional initiatives. Co-lead program architecture, executive alignment, and delivery accountability as the CFO’s day-to-day representative across:
  • Lead-to-Cash Optimization:- Partner with the CRO and CIO organizations to redesign and streamline the end-to-end revenue cycle, from pipeline generation through billing, collections, and revenue recognition. Identify friction points across quoting, contracting, and order management, and drive technology and process solutions that improve velocity, accuracy, and customer experience.
  • Consumption-Based Model Transition: Own the Finance and operational workstreams supporting GitLab's shift from seat-based to consumption-based pricing. Partner across Product, Sales, Finance, and Legal to build the systems, processes, controls, and reporting infrastructure required to operate and scale a consumption model, including billing architecture, revenue recognition frameworks, and sales compensation design.
  • Global Expansion Strategy: Drive the operating model design and stand-up of infrastructure for GitLab's international growth, including entity structure, statutory compliance, intercompany frameworks, and the finance systems required to support new markets. Partner closely with the CPO, Legal, and GTM leadership to ensure scalable, compliant, and efficient expansion execution.
  • Finance Transformation Strategy & Roadmap: Develop and execute a comprehensive Finance transformation strategy aligned with GitLab's growth objectives and public company requirements. Partner with the CFO and Finance Leadership team to define the multi-year roadmap for process optimization, technology enablement, and organizational evolution across financial planning, reporting, close, and consolidation.
  • Operational Excellence & Process Reengineering: Lead redesign of core finance processes to drive efficiency, accuracy, and scalability. Implement automation across financial close, consolidation, reporting, and planning cycles. Identify and eliminate friction points through process reengineering and technology enablement that support GitLab's remote-first operating model.
  • Finance Technology Leadership: Own the finance technology roadmap in partnership with the CIO organization. Evaluate, select, and implement enterprise solutions for FP&A, reporting, consolidation, and analytics. Ensure the successful integration of finance systems following M&A activity and drive the adoption of emerging technologies.
  • AI & Automation Integration Champion: and intelligent automation across the finance function and broader enterprise transformation programs. Identify high-impact use cases for autonomous AI agents, intelligent process orchestration, and advanced analytics. Establish frameworks for responsible AI adoption and measure productivity gains and business outcomes.
  • Transformation & Controls Integration: partner with the Chief Accounting Officer and VP of Internal Audit to ensure transformation initiatives maintain and enhance existing control frameworks. Design scalable processes that support SOX compliance and audit requirements while enabling efficiency gains. Collaborate on control design for new systems and process changes.
  • Data Governance & Analytics: partner with the VP of Data to enable data governance frameworks and master data management practices that ensure accuracy, consistency, and accessibility across the finance function. Drive adoption of self-service analytics capabilities and enhance financial insights available to business partners.
  • Transformation Program Management: Build and lead the Finance Transformation Office, developing the program management and execution muscle needed to drive Finance's role in GitLab's broader transformation agenda. Establish governance frameworks with executive-level reporting on progress, outcomes, and business value. Partner across functions to operationalize GitLab's newly launched Operating Model, building the planning-through-execution processes that translate strategic priorities into disciplined, measurable delivery.
  • Change Management & Enablement: Build organizational capability through training, documentation, and change management programs that drive adoption of new processes and tools. Partner with People Business Partners to assess organizational design and talent requirements to support transformation objectives.
  • Executive Partnership & Influence: Serve as a trusted advisor to the CFO, executive leadership team, and Board on transformation strategy. Translate business requirements into scalable solutions, build consensus across Finance, IT, and business units, and communicate transformation impact to stakeholders at all levels.

Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
