Givens Gerber Park, an affordable senior housing rental community in Asheville, NC, is seeking a full-time Maintenance Technician. Reporting directly to the Community Manager, this position will have a unique opportunity to channel their knowledge, skills, ambition, and experience in a meaningful way that directly impacts the lives of our residents. The primary role of this position is to maintain the physical integrity of the community. This involves ensuring a safe, secure and comfortable living environment for residents, visitors and staff. The schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 5pm, with on-call shifts.

What you'll do: 

  • Ensure that the physical aspects of the assigned properties meet Givens Communities’ quality standards and applicable laws
  • Routine maintenance, upkeep, and repair of the electrical and mechanical systems, appliances, buildings, and grounds
  • Empty trash, cleaning common areas, all aspects involved in turning apartments
  • Obtain work orders from the Community Manager, prioritize and assign work, complete work orders
  • Respond to maintenance requests and resolve maintenance issues promptly
  • Attend staff meetings to discuss work orders, budget compliance, ongoing vacancies, move-in/move-outs as needed
  • Purchase all needed supplies and materials within budgetary constraints

What you'll need: 

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Fair Housing and Section 504/ADA certification, or willing to obtain once hired
  • Previous property maintenance experience
  • Knowledge of pertinent laws and EPA and OSHA regulations governing proper storage and management of hazardous materials
  • Basic knowledge of and complete repairs for electricity, electrical appliances, plumbing, refrigeration systems, plastering, HVAC, painting, drywall repair, and carpentry

Added plus if you have formal training in one or more trades (HVAC, Electrical, Mechanical, Construction, Plumbing, etc.)

Compensation is $20.00-$24.00 per hour based on experience, plus our comprehensive benefits package!
