The Glen Echo Group, a creative communications firm with offices in Washington, D.C., and Chicago, I.L., seeks an experienced communications professional to join our fast-growing, D.C.-based team. As one of the leading storytellers for the internet-enabled world, this role will combine passion, industry knowledge and creative communications expertise to tell the stories of innovation and how technology can move the world forward as a force for good.
OVERVIEW:
The Glen Echo Group is seeking a Spring Intern or Fellow who is interested in tech, the Internet, public policy and storytelling. You will be part of a small but mighty team supporting clients ranging from startups to trade associations to Fortune 500 companies. Want to have some fun, help shape the issues, fight the fights and win the day?
Our Intern role is available to candidates who are currently completing their undergraduate degree. Our Fellow role is available to candidates who have completed or will have completed their undergraduate degree prior to January 2025.
Role duration: Our Spring 2025 Program runs from mid-to-late January to late May.
Role hours: We are prioritizing Interns/Fellows who are available to work 40 hours a week, but will still consider part-time applicants as needed.
Role location: This role is based in our Washington, D.C. office on a hybrid basis. The Glen Echo Group staff is in-office 2 days per week.
ACCOUNTABILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Monitor and analyze traditional and social media
- Provide detailed overviews of events monitored in real-time
- Conduct research in support of clients and campaigns
- Help create social media strategy for clients/campaigns as well as content and copy
- Assist with the planning and execution of Glen Echo Group virtual and in-person events
- Create media/press lists
- Support media pitches and outreach
- Draft press releases/op-eds/articles and assist in placement
Essential skills:
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Excellent writing skills and the ability to work under tight deadlines with changing priorities
- Strong research and analysis capabilities
- Familiarity with social media analytics and engagement
- The enthusiasm and desire to work hard both independently and part of a team
- Understanding of current and upcoming technology policy issues
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
Salary:
- Intern: $18 per hour
- Fellow: $22 per hour
