ABOUT THE GLEN ECHO GROUP 

Glen Echo Group seeks a Director of Public Affairs to join our fast-growing, DC-based team. As one of the leading storytellers for the internet-enabled world, this role will combine passion, industry and policy knowledge and creative communications expertise to tell the stories of innovation and how technology can move the world forward as a force for good.

ABOUT THIS ROLE

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team and work every day with the leading brands and innovators of the new economy. Our ideal candidate will have a proven track record in developing and implementing successful media relations campaigns and have a background in policy and/or public affairs. This person should be a strong team player with a demonstrated commitment to client service, an excellent track record in creating and executing integrated communications campaigns and an interest in technology policy.

Role location: This role is available in our Washington, D.C. office on a hybrid basis. The team is in-office at least 2-3 days per week. 

ACCOUNTABILITIES & QUALIFICATIONS

As a Director of Public Affairs, you will...

  • Serve as the day-to-day client manager, core team member and communications lead across a variety of clients
  • Develop media strategies and collateral materials and execute across a variety of media platforms; build and cultivate trusted relationships across media platforms; interact and earn coverage from key press
  • Manage projects and campaigns, set and manage deadlines, budgets and employ best-of-class communications and measurement tools
  • Understand digital and content marketing channels and employ excellent written and communications skills to create and deliver compelling and persuasive content
  • Demonstrate knowledge of industry tools for client service, including data and analytics, social tools, metrics and business and industry development

Essential Skills: 

  • 7+ years of communications experience, including the ability to translate complex issues into simple and compelling communications campaigns
  • Strong project manager with the ability to juggle multiple clients and deliver results in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
  • Strong media relationships and networks, excellent writing skills and utilization of communications tools
  • Background and interest in policy issues; expertise in crafting and executing integrated public affairs campaigns
  • Ability to identify and counsel on emerging issues, respond to urgent client requests  while navigating  a constant and challenging media environment
  • Ability to contribute to new business efforts and the growth of existing clients
  • Has a strong attention to detail, enthusiasm, creativity and professionalism, a desire to work hard in a fast-paced environment and be part of an extraordinary group of people

WORKING AT ORCHESTRA

Salary range (commensurate with experience and skills): $110,000 - $140,000
