Manager, Prospect Research & Development Operations

Washington, District of Columbia, United States

The Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP) brings together philanthropy including the IKEA Foundation, The Rockefeller Foundation and the Bezos Earth Fund, governments, technology, policy and development partners, and the private sector to tackle the twin challenges of energy access and transition in emerging and developing countries. By 2030, we aim to expand clean energy access to one billion people, enable 150 million new jobs and reduce 4 gigatons of future carbon emissions. We believe clean energy is development: without it, every other form of progress is undermined so we’re building a movement to unlock a new era of inclusive green economic growth that accelerates universal energy access while enabling the global community to meet critical climate goals during the next decade.

About the Role – Manager, Prospect Research & Development Operations
The Manager, Prospect Research & Development Operations, will play a crucial role in diversifying GEAPP’s support base by significantly increasing funds received from institutional, corporate, and potentially individual donors annually. Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive prospect research across institutional, corporate, and individual sources to identify emerging opportunities and build a robust funding pipeline for GEAPP.
  • Partner with Individuals and Institutional teams to develop and implement tailored engagement strategies for foundations, governments, corporations, and major individual supporters by providing in-depth landscape analysis and insights on potential donors and their funding priorities.
  • Conceptualize, drive and implement the prospect and funder’s lifecycle within GEAPP’s CRM (Salesforce), ensuring accurate tracking, reporting, and evaluation of engagement activities for the Partnerships team.
  • Oversee the gift acknowledgment process to ensure timely and appropriate recognition, and support development/finance reconciliation in collaboration with the finance team.
  • Maintain the integrity of funder and prospect data in Salesforce, regularly synthesize research into actionable insights, and support overall development reporting and administrative tasks as needed.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive weekly pipeline reports and dashboards to track fundraising progress, and actively participate in the annual budgeting and forecasting processes for the Partnerships and External Relations department.
  • Conduct research and analysis on Open Philanthropy opportunities and assess their potential fit with GEAPP's strategic priorities.
  • Perform light-touch business development tracking, monitoring relevant industry trends and potential partnerships that could expand GEAPP's funding base.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in development, with a focus on prospect research, data analytics, and donor relations.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple complex projects with competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in the use of online research tools relevant to institutional, corporate, and individual giving (e.g., Wealth Engine, DonorSearch, RelSci, Foundation Directory Online).
  • Strong ethical standards and impeccable judgment in handling sensitive and confidential information.
