Marine biodiversity training manager

Remote

Background: Global Fishing Watch is an international, non-profit organization committed to advancing ocean governance through increased transparency. We create, transform and distribute data to increase the transparency of human activities in the global ocean. We believe the application of this knowledge will lead to greater accountability, improved governance and a reduction in threats to the sustainability of marine resources and biodiversity.  Founded in 2015 through a collaboration between Oceana, SkyTruth, and Google, Global Fishing Watch became an independent, international nonprofit organization in June 2017. Using cutting-edge technology, we create and publicly share map visualizations, data, and analysis tools to enable scientific research and drive a transformation in how we manage our ocean.

To pursue our unified organisational strategy, by 2030 across 30 countries we aim to empower institutions and people to 1) support the reduction of illegal unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing and destructive fishing practices 2) better enforce and protect the rights of 1 million small scale fishers and 3) improve the effective designation and management of area based conservation measures. A key part of our work involves partnering with national governments, regional institutes and other actors to increase the uptake of Global Fishing Watch technologies to designate and monitor marine managed areas.

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
