Sr Data Engineer
General Summary:
The Supervisor, Software Engineering, is responsible for the day-to-day management of the data lake operations team. The ideal candidate will oversee daily operations, ensure efficient data management practices, and facilitate cross-functional collaboration to optimize data accessibility and utilization.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a team responsible for responding to data anomalies, alerts and incoming requests from data lake users
- Oversee a JIRA ticketing queue, managing assignments and monitoring performance.
- Build dashboards to monitor data flows and identify issues
- Develop and implement ops policies and procedures to maintain data reliability and quality.
- Establish KPIs and regularly monitor performance metrics; provide reports and insights to management.
- Lead the response to operational incidents, ensuring timely resolution and minimal impact on business operations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data management, data governance, engineering, and business stakeholders, to support data-driven initiatives and resolve operational issues.
- Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to team members, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and excellence in operations practices.
- Ensure adherence to data governance policies and regulatory requirements related to data handling and storage.

Required education, certifications, and experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Management, or a related field; relevant certifications are a plus.
- 5+ years of experience in operations management, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role within data management or a related field.
- Strong SQL skills
- Familiarity with Sigma Computing or similar dashboarding tools
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex data issues, identify root causes, and develop innovative solutions
- Strong understanding of data lakes, cloud storage solutions, and data processing tools (e.g., AWS, Azure, Hadoop).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience working with an international development team (e.g., internal remote offices or outsourcing partners)
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with the Snowflake data platform.
- Familiarity with data governance frameworks and data quality best practices.
- Experience with automation via Python scripting
