About the Project:

The Glydways Atlanta ATN Pilot Project is the first passenger carrying Automated Transit Network deployed by Glydways in the United States, running from the Airport SkyTrain at the Georgia International Convention Center to the Gateway Center Arena. It spans construction, system integration and testing, commissioning, and pilot passenger service alongside project sponsors, contractors, the operating organization, local authorities, and emergency responders.

Glydways has established an independent Safety, Quality and Compliance organization, applying established transit and rail safety standards to a new class of automated technology. On the Atlanta site, the safety function owns the site safety management system, confirms that required controls are implemented before work and service proceed, and works in close partnership with Test and Commissioning, Operations, Maintenance, Quality, Engineering, contractors, local authorities, and emergency responders to sustain them.

 

About the Role:

The Test & Commissioning Engineer / Central Control Operator supports testing, commissioning and operations of the Glydways Atlanta ATN Pilot Project. The CCO reports to the Operations Manager, monitors the system, carries out approved operational and test actions within assigned authority, and escalates abnormal or unresolved conditions.

• Monitor vehicles, guideway and access locations, OCS and operator displays, alarms, communications, network status, cameras, and operating conditions.
• Complete startup and pre-test checks; execute approved integration, acceptance, commissioning, regression, and safety-validation tests; and record results and deviations.
• Assess alerts, provide approved remote assistance, and execute authorized stop, E-Stop, recovery, communication, and service-support actions; pause testing or operations when conditions are unsafe or outside the approved configuration.
• Coordinate field response, fault diagnosis, approved updates, and retesting with the CCO Lead, Field Operations, maintenance, engineering, and safety.
• Communicate clearly with riders, field personnel, and emergency responders, and maintain accurate operational, test, fault, incident, and evidence records.
• Provide complete shift handovers, maintain required training and qualifications, participate in post-incident reviews, and flag recurring faults or operational patterns for follow-up.

This is an in-person position in Atlanta, GA and will start as a one year contract. The role will start with an in-person 4-6 week training in Richmond, CA

 

Required Skills and Certifications:

• B.S. in Engineering Fields or equivalent
• At least three years of experience as a test and commissioning engineer, as an operator in a control room, dispatch center, transit, fleet, test-and-commissioning, industrial, or emergency-response environment.
• Ability to monitor multiple information sources, recognize changing conditions, and act promptly within approved procedures.
• Ability to execute structured test procedures, perform basic troubleshooting, and capture accurate technical evidence.
• Clear verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to remain calm and focused under pressure.
• Available for onsite rotating shifts in Atlanta, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Nice to Haves:

• Experience with autonomous vehicles, public transit, rail, automated people movers, or another safety-critical system.
• Familiarity with Operation Control Centers and SCADA tools, fleet and network monitoring, vehicle diagnostics, Jira, test tracking, or log handling.
• Experience with system bring-up, acceptance or safety-validation testing, controlled updates, fault reproduction, or retesting.
