People Team Working Student
Blinkist connects people with powerful ideas from leading authors and experts to broaden perspectives, gain knowledge, and spark understanding in all areas of their life, both personal and professional.
Used by over 32 million people worldwide, Blinkist distills the key ideas from the most relevant, impactful books and podcasts. These can be read or listened to in 15-minute summaries, that we call Blinks. ✨
About The Role
The People team supports all employees at Blinkist through their employee experience - for hiring and onboarding through to engagement, performance development, our culture and office environment and everything that touches the employee journey.
We are a small but perfectly formed (and long-standing) People team comprised of 1 person leading each area:
- People Experience
- People Development
- Talent Acquisition
- Office Management and Wellbeing,
- Internal IT
- Plus our two wonderful Chefs in La Cantina 🧑🍳
We work in a super collaborative way - own our areas of accountability but roll our sleeves up and support each other as workloads vary. We also have a lot of fun along the way ☺️
The role will be based in our Berlin office and will work 20 hours per week with hours agreed together. The role will primarily support the Senior People Experience Lead but will support others across the team as needed.
We have had many strong Working Students who have been with us - moved internally, grown at Blinkist and have gone onto exciting projects elsewhere. So as a team, we are committed to supporting your development and providing opportunities to gain a broad range of experience across the employee lifecycle.
The role will report to Lisa, who leads People Experience.
What You'll Do
- Own the on and off boarding for joiners and leavers including:
- Be the first point of contact for People queries through our people@blinkist.com inbox (benefits queries, reference requests, signposting to information etc)
- Support the Internal IT Manager with first line IT queries through our Jira helpdesk (account resets, account creation etc)
- Support with People and Culture projects as they arise which can be across the whole employee lifecycle. Current projects for example are:
- Provide support where needed across the team
What We're Looking For
- Currently enrolled in a German University with at least 3 semesters until the end of their study programme.
- Preference is for an HR related degree or background, but most important is a passion for supporting business growth through the strength of employees 💪🏻.
- Fluent in German and English.
- Bias for Action: Ability and love of rolling up your sleeves, working collaboratively and supporting the People and broader Blinkist Team to grow and succeed.
- The best day to get something done is today: Motivated by a fast-paced environment and a way of working where no two days will be the same (you will never be bored).
- True Ownership: Strong sense of ownership for your responsibilities and a strong bias for action, coupled with high quality of delivery.
- Team Player: sees success as us winning as a team and can build strong relationships both within the People Team and beyond.
- Growth Mindset: We love a curious mindset - if you’re keen to learn, grow and expand your horizon through a variety of tasks, then we could be the place for you
- Have fun along the way: Great sense of humour and desire to take work seriously but approach it with a light heart.
