The role

This is an exciting and unique opportunity to join GoCardless as our first Talent Acquisition Partner on the ground in Portugal. You will be instrumental in building and shaping our brand new hub dedicated to our Product Development teams. As a foundational member of our Portugal presence, you will be responsible for attracting, engaging, and hiring exceptional engineering, product and design talent to fuel our growth and innovation. This role will make a tangible impact on the success of our new hub and the wider GoCardless organisation.

You will be a key partner to our Product and Engineering leadership, understanding their talent needs and developing effective sourcing and recruitment strategies tailored to the Portuguese market.

What you'll be doing:

  • Building the Foundation: Be the first Talent Acquisition hire in Portugal, playing a pivotal role in establishing our employer brand and recruitment processes within the local market.
  • End-to-End Recruitment: Manage the full recruitment lifecycle for a variety of technical roles within our Product Development teams (Engineering, Product Management, Design), from initial briefing to offer negotiation.
  • Strategic Talent Sourcing: Develop and execute innovative sourcing strategies to identify and attract top-tier talent in Portugal, utilising a variety of channels including online platforms, professional networks, local communities, and events.
  • Employer Branding & Outreach: Represent GoCardless in the Portuguese tech community, building relationships with potential candidates and promoting our employer value proposition through networking, meetups, and other initiatives.
  • Stakeholder Management: Partner closely with hiring managers and the broader Product Development leadership team to understand their talent needs, provide market insights, and ensure a seamless and positive candidate experience.
  • Process Improvement: Contribute to the development and refinement of our recruitment processes and tools, ensuring efficiency, fairness, and a focus on candidate experience.
  • Market Intelligence: Stay up-to-date on the Portuguese tech talent landscape, including compensation benchmarks, competitor activity, and emerging trends.
  • Data-Driven Approach: Track and analyse key recruitment metrics to identify areas for improvement and measure the effectiveness of our talent acquisition strategies.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the wider global Talent Acquisition team, sharing best practices and contributing to global talent initiatives.
  • Cultural Ambassador: Help to foster a positive and inclusive culture within the new Portugal hub, aligned with GoCardless' core values.

What excites us  

  • Proven experience as an in-house Talent Acquisition Partner or Recruiter, with a strong track record of successfully hiring technical talent within the Portuguese market.
  • Excellent understanding of the full recruitment lifecycle with strong direct sourcing skills and experience utilising various sourcing tools and techniques.
  • Experience building relationships within the local Portuguese tech community through networking and meetups.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build strong relationships at all levels.
  • Data driven approach, using data and insights to support hiring strategies. 
  • Fluency in Portuguese and English (C1+) is essential.
  • Experience working within a scaling technology company is a plus.

Base salary range: €TBC

Base salary ranges are based on role, job level, location, and market data. Please note that whilst we strive to offer competitive compensation, our approach is to pay between the minimum and the mid-point of the pay range until performance can be assessed in role. Offers will take into account level of experience, interview assessment, budgets and parity between you and fellow employees at GoCardless doing similar work.

Please note. this role is initially being offered through an Employer of Record (EOR), our standard benefits package will be available upon transition to direct employment.
