Position Summaries

Second Year Fellow

GO 2nd Year Fellows play a crucial role in the school community by serving as both experienced Fellows for students and peer support for first year Fellows. They work with stakeholders to ensure students receive high-quality instruction, mentorship, and a supportive environment. GO 2nd Year Fellows also set a positive tone for the school community through their leadership and modeling of effective instructional and mentorship strategies. Ideal candidates have strong relationships, are respected as leaders, and have a proven record of successfully implementing GO Fellowship expectations.

Fellow Lead

GO Fellow Leads play a vital role in the school community as experienced Fellows for students and coaches for other Fellows. As community leaders, they work with stakeholders to provide students with exceptional instruction, mentorship, and a supportive environment. GO Fellow Leads are responsible for fostering a positive, supportive atmosphere for all Fellows and ensuring they feel valued and effective in their roles. Ideal candidates have established strong relationships, are recognized as leaders, and have a proven record of successfully implementing the GO Fellowship model and culture.

GO Fellow Lead positions are reserved for experienced fellows who have shown great promise as a Fellow and leader. Success in this role will also require the candidate to command respect from all members of the staff, students and families.

AmeriCorps Living Allowance

The AmeriCorps Living Allowance and number of pay cycles may vary based on your assigned start date and location. The total living allowance determined for each role are as follows:

Second Year Fellow: $21,400

Fellow Lead: $25,500

Key Responsibilities

Second Year Fellow:

Empower Student Achievement: Deliver daily instruction and mentorship to small groups of students, foster a supportive school environment, monitor student progress and set individualized goals, participate in student and content-focused meetings, maintain relationships with families, and attend family events.

Support First-Year Fellows: Model effective instructional and mentorship strategies, acclimate Fellows to GO Fellowship and school culture and procedures, promote professionalism, contribute to a positive AmeriCorps experience, and plan team-building and appreciation activities.

Develop an Enrichment Area of Interest: Choose and develop an area of interest to enhance the school's offerings, such as culture, operations, curriculum and pedagogy, special education, professional development, data, after-school, and sports programming.

Fellow Lead:

Coaching first-year Fellows: Model and coach effective instructional and mentorship strategies to drive positive academic and social-emotional outcomes for students. Guide Fellows in adapting to school culture and procedures, using data, and understanding professionalism. Provide feedback, observations, and support planning and leading professional development, team building, and appreciation activities.

Empowering student achievement: Continue to provide high-dosage tutoring and mentorship. Develop an enriching school environment through presence, engagement, and support. Assess student progress and set student-directed goals. Maintain open communication with families and attend family events.

Providing direct support to school leadership: Track Fellow and student performance, participate in weekly meetings and check-ins, and work closely with the School Program Staff and selected GO Tutor Corps Program Team members to support and execute the DMI rubric and ensure a positive AmeriCorps experience for Fellows. Drive innovation, tackle problems with creative solutions, and disrupt the status quo.

A successful candidate will also bring the following qualifications and competencies:

• Must have successfully completed a service term in the GO Fellowship or similar program
• Unshakeable belief in the success of all students and Fellows
• Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusiveness
• At least one term of outstanding service in the GO Fellowship or a comparable role in a similar organization
• Excellent leadership skills with a history of peer leadership
• Ability to coach peers through observations, feedback, and one-on-one check-ins
• Exceptional relationship building and communication skills with stakeholders across the organization
• Remarkable organizational skills with strict adherence to deadlines

GO Teacher Residency

The GO Teacher Residency is a pathway to teaching created for GO AmeriCorps Fellows. Each year, a small number of Fellows are selected to participate in an embedded Masters Degree program. As a Teacher Resident, you can continue receiving AmeriCorps benefits while enrolling in one of our partner graduate programs, working alongside a Mentor Teacher while gradually taking on teaching responsibility.
