Senior Engineering Manager
Want to help us, help others? We’re hiring!
GoFundMe is a global community of over 150 million people who come together every day with the common purpose of helping one another. Our mission is to help people help each other through our best in class technology. In 2022, GoFundMe joined together with Classy, a leading nonprofit fundraising software company that enables nonprofits to connect supporters with the causes they care about. Together, we have empowered people and organizations to raise more than $30 billion since 2010. Our vision is to become the most helpful place in the world.
Join us! We are looking for our first engineering leader in Argentina to join GoFundMe’s Incubation team and help bring groundbreaking 0→1 products to life. In this role, you’ll set the technical vision and build the foundation for innovations that will define our future—leading the development of Partnership APIs that connect GoFundMe to the platforms and channels where our donors engage, and standing up a new team tasked with architecting and delivering a first-of-its-kind marketing technology.
In this position, you’ll recruit, mentor, and grow a local engineering team to design and build reliable, scalable systems from initial concept through MVP launch, partnering closely with Product, Design, and Data to validate ideas quickly. Join us if you’re passionate about personal and professional growth and eager to make a direct impact on GoFundMe’s products and the people who rely on them.
This is a hybrid position; candidates considered for this role will be located in Buenos Aires.
The Job…
- Build & lead your team. Recruit, hire, and mentor engineers in Argentina, establishing scalable practices for code quality, testing, and delivery.
- Shape product strategy. Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to translate early-stage research into technical roadmaps and prototypes.
- Architect from scratch. Guide your engineers in designing modular, maintainable, and scalable systems using GoFundMe’s cloud-native and GraphQL-first approach.
- Drive execution. Own sprint planning, resource allocation, and risk management to deliver MVPs on time, balancing innovation with reliability.
- Institute best practices. Champion CI/CD, automated testing, observability, and strong security postures from day one.
You…
- Leadership experience. 5+ years managing engineering teams, ideally leading initial hires and building teams from zero.
- Hands-on technologist. 8+ years building scalable systems, with a track record of architecting and shipping new products.
- Strategic mindset. Comfort with ambiguity—able to scope broadly, make technical trade-offs, and pivot based on feedback.
- Cross-functional collaborator. Skilled at communicating technical plans to non-technical stakeholders and aligning diverse teams.
- Startup spirit. You thrive in fast-moving environments, relish solving novel problems, and take pride in turning rough ideas into lasting solutions.
Preferred…
- Familiarity with Spring Boot, Kotlin, GraphQL, AWS, Kafka, and Kubernetes.
- Prior success scaling engineering teams in LATAM markets.
