GoFundMe is the world’s most powerful community for good, dedicated to helping people help each other. By uniting individuals and nonprofits in one place, GoFundMe makes it easy and safe for people to ask for help and support causes—for themselves and each other. Together, our community has raised more than $40 billion since 2010.
Join us! We’re seeking a Lead International SEO to scale our global organic search strategy across international markets. You’ll combine technical expertise, analytical insight, and cultural fluency to help GoFundMe’s stories reach more people - no matter where they are.
This role sits at the intersection of marketing, product, and engineering, ensuring international SEO best practices are embedded across our platform and localized experiences. You’ll drive meaningful growth in key regions by optimizing discoverability, user journeys, and search visibility across languages and markets.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in fast-moving, collaborative environments, loves testing and learning, and is passionate about connecting people through purpose-driven content.
The Job:
- Own international SEO performance across multiple markets, optimizing site architecture, on-page experience, and local discoverability.
- Work with SEO director and Product, Engineering, and Data Science to ensure SEO is embedded into the global roadmap and technical infrastructure.
- Partner with local teams to adapt strategies for local languages, search behavior, and market nuances.
- Conduct technical audits to identify and resolve issues across crawling, indexing, hreflang, rendering, internal linking, and structured data.
- Lead keyword, content, and competitive analyses to uncover growth opportunities by country and vertical.
- Define KPIs and measurement frameworks for international organic performance, using analytics and BI tools to track and communicate impact.
- Support new product launches and international expansions, ensuring SEO readiness from architecture to content rollout.
Stay ahead of algorithm updates and evolving search behaviors, including AI and multimodal search (AEO, YouTube, TikTok, LLM-based engines). - Educate and influence cross-functional teams on SEO best practices — fostering a data-driven, globally aware search culture.
- Collaborate with Paid Media, CRM, and Brand teams to align organic strategies with cross-channel growth initiatives.
You:
- 5–7 years of hands-on experience in SEO, with significant exposure to international markets and localization.
Strong technical foundation - comfortable discussing crawling, indexing, site speed, structured data, and hreflang implementation. - Proven experience improving rankings and organic traffic across multi-language, multi-region sites.
Familiarity with working in large, dynamic web environments (marketplaces, UGC platforms, or SaaS).
Strong data skills and experience using tools such as Google Search Console, Google Analytics, Looker, Amplitude, Screaming Frog, and Ahrefs/Semrush.
Understanding of AI and generative search (AEO) and its impact on global search visibility. - Experience collaborating with engineering, product, and content teams — and comfortable writing tickets and articulating business impact.
- Clear communicator with the ability to translate complex data and technical insights into actionable strategy.
- Agile and curious - thrives on testing, iteration, and scaling learnings across markets.
- At least one other language, preferably German
