CAE Engineer III - Crash Safety (Structural)

Summary:
This role will support a largescale Automotive OEM for creating and validating automation of CAE workflows and processes related to the 1D/3D CAE models, which includes AI/ML approaches focusing on Crash Safety (structural) performance.
Responsibilities:
• Utilize Ansa for preprocessing tasks and meshing.
• Responsible for dynamic and/or static, linear and/or nonlinear Crash analysis utilizing CAE tool LS Dyna for structural performance.
• Lead and provide technical guidance for teams or projects to develop and validate new CAE methods for both specification setting and product verification for Crash performance.
• Develops and evaluates metrics for quality of modeling and analysis.
• Interpret data, develop and report countermeasures using MetaPOST/Hyperworks for post processing.
• Must be able to optimize and correlate analyses with real world test results.
• Communicates effectively within the group about milestones and issues, and outside the group to accomplish goals.
• Analyze and resolve complex problems independently or with minimal guidance.
• Use best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve product and/or processes.
• Utilizes Excel to create and update project schedules.
• Travel to client site required.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 10+ years relevant industry exp. or Master’s degree in Engineering and 8+ yrs relevant industry exp
• Education with the following specialties preferred: Mechanical, Mechanical Technology, Aerospace, Automotive, Manufacturing
• 8+ years of experience with performing Full vehicle and sub-system such as BIW (body-in-white) level crash simulations for structural performance and crashworthiness evaluation on front/side/roll-over modes
• 8+ years of experience using tools ANSA, LS-Dyna
• Strong knowledge and understanding of automotive safety standards (FMVSS, ECE, NCAP) required
• Experience using modeFRONTIER or iSight for MDO (multi-disciplinary optimization) is highly preferred.
• Experience with other CAE software such as Nastran, Abaqus, Hypermesh, and
proficiency with programming language software such as Matlab, Python, and VBA is preferred.
• Strong project management, communication (verbal/written) skills and MS Office skills, including excel.
