Summary:
As a Design and Release Engineer, you will be supporting components such as Steering Gear, I shaft, Steering Column for EVs. You will engage with other interfacing system engineers and cross functional teams to deliver the designs from initial concept to production.
Responsibilities:
• Design and release steering system components and assemblies from concept to production
• Support Design tasks for Steering system components from initial concept to production
• Help with documentations of requirements for components based on desired vehicle functions and attributes
• Lead technical development activities with supplier, drive design solutions with challenging time, cost, technical requirements constraints.
• Support Steering System and component DFMEAs and DVPs and contribute to system failure mode analyses
• Perform detailed assessments of bolted connections to ensure compliance with structural and safety standards.
• Perform structural analysis for safety critical components.
• Utilize CAD and stack ups to verify spatial constraints, clearances, and packaging feasibility.
• Establish and achieve targets for cost, investment, weight, performance, and quality
• Responsible for quality of components and/or subsystem 3D CAD and technical drawings
• Coordinate, lead and participate in design reviews
• Work multi-functionally to implement cost reduction methods and product improvements, and to support prototype and production build activities
• Remain up-to-date in relevant new technology and products
• Travel as required
• Perform other duties as needed
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
• Education with the following specialties preferred: Mechanical, Mechanical Technology, Aerospace, Automotive, Manufacturing.
• 5+ years of experience with engineering steering systems (especially steering column and intermediate shaft)
• Experience and proficiency with CATIA V5/V6 and 3DX
• Knowledge and working experience with DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis) and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
• Knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and tooling
