Summary:
The DRE will be responsible for design from concept to production, release, and launch of components, systems, and sub-systems for vehicle programs. This individual will be depended on to build strong partnerships with internal team members responsible for design, validation, procurement, and manufacturing of the vehicle.
Responsibilities:
- Understand and lead project according to client requirements and manage project with offshore team (India).
- Drive project success by serving as the primary liaison between project teams, ensuring seamless alignment on technical specifications, project timelines, and budgetary goals.
- Foster collaboration and maintain critical communication channels between internal and external engineers and key suppliers located in Japan, India, and the US to ensure timely and effective support for ongoing and future projects.
- Act as the central point of coordination for all project stakeholders, facilitating technical reviews, resolving scope issues, and ensuring all parties are operating under a unified project vision.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of professional experience specializing in automotive plastics part design.
- Expert proficiency in CATIA V5 or V6 (3DEXPERIENCE), including advanced skills in: Generative Shape Design (GSD), Part Design / Assembly Design, Drafting and mechanical drawing creation.
- Required experience designing diverse automotive plastic components (Interior/Exterior, soft/hard trims).
- Prior work experience at an OEM or Tier 1 supplier for automotive industry.
- Knowledge of automotive product development schedules.
- General understanding of plastic injection molding manufacturing processes.
- Familiarity with quality and design control methodologies (e.g., DFMEA and GD&T).
- High proficiency with MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Japanese - English bilingual skills (N3 level or higher) preferred.
Remote/Hybrid + Travel to Client Sites as needed
