Goldbelly Culinary Product Developer

We are looking for a Culinary Product Developer to join our Goldbelly Kitchens team in New York City. You will work closely with our chef partners and production kitchens to develop products that represent both brands, ship well, delight the customer, and meet business needs.

Working at Goldbelly

At Goldbelly, we believe in the emotional power of food.  We believe that food brings people together, so we've created a place that connects people with their greatest food memories, experiences and desires. We’ve built a platform that empowers small shops, chefs and restaurants and inspires their passion.  Our mission is to bring people comfort through food.  Whatever you dream of. Wherever you are.

Goldbelly empowers the top food makers around the country to sell their specialty dishes (think deep dish pizza from Chicago, iconic Texas BBQ, etc) to food-lovers nationwide. Consumers know we are the marketplace for the best food you can get in the US. Merchants use our platform to create a brand new revenue stream and grow their businesses.

What You’ll Do

  • Recreate recipes for GBK chef partners according to their exact specifications - the “Culinary Gold Standard”
  • Help determine which co-packer kitchens are the best fit for new projects; reach out to multiple kitchens, “bid out” the project and decide who is the best fit based on capabilities, production & fulfillment capacity, pricing, and other relevant factors
  • Work closely with co-packer kitchens (on-site & virtually) on R&D and achieving a manufacturing gold standard that mirrors the original recipe as closely as possible, and that the chef partner signs off on
  • Collaborate with different Goldbelly teams (Packaging, Merchant-Ops, Product Build, and Design) to create the optimal storage and reheating procedures to share with customers
  • Maintain relationships with co-packer kitchens, including verifying that continuing production (ingredients, culinary process) aligns with and results in the agreed-upon manufacturing gold standard for each product
  • Conduct ongoing taste tests to ensure the products match the manufacturing gold standard
  • Assist in product photoshoots - create shot lists, order product, and food-style when necessary
  • Work cross-functionally across multiple internal teams such as finance, marketing, packaging, design, and operations to ensure we are maximizing revenue for the Goldbelly Kitchens chef partners.

What You’ve Done

  • 5+ years experience in product development in the culinary space.
  • Experience in cross-functional brainstorming for innovation and creation of products.
  • Knowledge in recipe development and scaling of small-batch recipes
  • Comfortable with recipe costing and able to think outside the box when it comes to developing products that are delicious, replicable and cost-effective.
  • Confidence in culinary ability and teaching and leading a kitchen to replicate a recipe to spec.
  • Experience with sourcing and procurement of ingredients and packaging.
  • A diligent and creative problem solver.

Benefits

  • Salary Range: $75,000 - $95,000 (negotiable, depending on experience)
  • Comprehensive benefits - medical, dental, and vision
  • Company HSA and Dependent Care FSA
  • Flexible paid-time-off
  • 25% off Goldbelly
  • Opportunities for upward mobility
