Coordinator, Public Relations (SCW)
About the Position
We are looking for a proactive and professional Coordinator to support the public relations initiatives of the NBA G League, the Santa Cruz Warriors, and external events at Kaiser Permanente Arena. In this role, you will craft all written communications for the team and develop professional relationships with local media groups throughout Santa Cruz and Monterey Counties. Additionally, you will work closely with the Community Relations team and across all departments. This role reports directly to the Director, Community and Public Relations.

This is a full-time position located onsite in Santa Cruz, CA.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop all written communications for the Santa Cruz Warriors, including press releases, media advisories, and game recaps
- Create and update strategic PR initiatives and tracking responsibilities, including media guides, game notes and post-season guides
- Collaborate cross departmentally and with external partners to meet the goals of all stakeholders (e.g., the internal team, corporate sponsors, community partners)
- Partner with local media groups to develop story ideas that support the overall SCW business
- Build and maintain relationships with local media groups through consistent communication and collaboration
- Perform game night duties related to the media, scouts and public relations team needs
- Hire, manage, and schedule part-time game night statistician staff
- Set up statistician team for success on game nights by leading setup and breakdown of equipment
- Support community relations initiatives, such as donation management, event tracking, and attending external community events as necessary
- Attend and work all Santa Cruz Warriors home games
- Cover all Santa Cruz Warriors away games remotely and lead post game press releases
- Assist with events at Kaiser Permanente Arena, such as season ticket member and partner events, concerts, shows, etc.
- Support community relations game-day duties, including activations, hospitality, and fundraising efforts as necessary
- Other duties as assigned
Required Experience and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- 1-2 years in public/media relations, preferably within the entertainment industry
- Excellent written and verbal communication, service and resolution skills; strong attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite/Google Suite, and Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign)
- Excellent written and verbal communication, service and resolution skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with partners and peers at all levels within the organization
- Ability to balance multiple projects at once in a fast-paced work environment
Time Commitment
- Ability to work non-traditional hours, including nights, weekends and holidays according to game/event schedule
- Local travel occasionally required for community events and client meetings
Compensation
- $23.78 Per hour + Bonus
