About the Position
The Golden State Valkyries will have a mascot! We are looking for a part-time mascot to perform at Valkyries home games, team events, and outside appearances. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic, organized, and passionate about creating a fun and engaging atmosphere. The ideal candidate should have strong non-verbal communication skills, and bring creativity and humor to their performance. The Mascot will collaborate with several departments across the organization (e.g., Game Experience, Marketing, Social, Corporate Partnerships, Community Relations, etc.) to ensure the fulfillment of company goals and the support of company philosophies. This position reports to the Director, Entertainment Teams.

This is a part-time position based onsite in San Francisco with travel throughout the Bay Area and Sacramento. The majority of work hours are based on the game schedule and scheduled mascot appearances.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform and entertain fans at Valkyries home games (Regular Season and Playoffs, team events, community appearances, and various activations related to the brand)
- Create fun, memorable moments for Valkyries fans in the arena, throughout the Bay Area, and beyond
- Collaborate on social media projects, appearing in content and showcasing the character’s activities and personality to our online audience
- Participate in office hours, training hours, and rehearsals to develop and strengthen characteristics integral to the mascot personality and interaction with fans
- Work directly with the Director of Entertainment to plan and coordinate in-game activities, skits, and fan engagement
- Collaborate with Game Experience, Marketing, Social, Community Relations, and Corporate Partnerships to execute activations that support organizational initiatives, supporting and enhancing the brand inside the arena at games and outside the arena at events throughout the community
- Support mascot costume operations including diligent costume care and storage practices
- Other duties as assigned
Required Experience & Skills
- Previous experience as a sports mascot is preferred
- Creative, funny, energetic, and spontaneous
- Skillful with improvisation and nonverbal communication
- Live performance skills such as dancing and acting; additional specialty skills such as gymnastics and rollerskating are a plus
- Familiarity with social media platforms and pop culture trends
- Production experience, choreography, and skit-writing skills are a plus
- Music, video editing, and event production experience are a plus
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to complete basic administrative tasks and communication
- Access to reliable transportation and a Valid Driver’s License
Time Commitment
- Available to work all Golden State Valkyries home games, with flexibility nights, weekends, and holidays for additional appearances and events
Physical Demands
- Ability to work in a costume, including coverings over the head
- Athletic with physical stamina; agile and quick
- Ability to bend, stretch, twist, and reach with the body, arms, and legs is crucial for executing various dance movements
- Ability to maintain balance and coordinate movements effectively

Compensation
- $130.00 - 160.00 per hour
