Vice President, Back of House Operations

About the Role

We are looking for a dynamic Vice President to lead the back of house operations of Chase Center, Thrive City, and the Oakland Facility. In this role, you will have direct supervisory responsibility over our Engineering, Construction & Development, Event Conversions, Scoreboard Operations, Logistics, AV/Broadcasting and Warehouse Operations teams. We need an inspiring leader with a passion for staff development and the ability to lead a supportive, collaborative and innovative culture. You will be a part of the Golden State Senior Leadership Team and the Arena Operations Senior Leadership Team. This position reports to the General Manager, Chase Center.

This is a full-time position based onsite in San Francisco, CA.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Back of House operations to ensure all operate at a world-class level
  • Lead the BOH department leaders in the day-to-day management of their various departments; review and evaluate processes and results; identify and resolve deficiencies and challenges
  • Collaborate with BOH department leaders to develop and execute long term strategic plans
  • Analyze BOH financial and operating reports, drive financial performance, analyze data, and develop strategies to decrease costs and improve performance
  • Responsible for the strategic leadership of construction projects, the company-wide capital process and long-term venue upgrades and maintenance plans to improve efficiency, deliver a world-class experience and extend the lifespan of our venues
  • Collaborate with key personnel in the Arena Operations and Labor Relations departments in the development and management of labor strategies, policies, procedures, negotiations, and dispute resolution
  • Partner with colleagues to ensure all operates in compliance with local, state and federal regulations including OSHA standards
  • Ensure that commercial real estate operates at a high level all while serving as the main liaison with the management company
  • Evaluate, improve and implement policies, process and procedures all in an effort to enhance efficiency, safety and overall experience
  • Build strong and collaborative relationships with internal colleagues and external clients to ensure effective communication all in an effort to deliver on goals
  • Represent the organization in applicable industry/trade organizations, and serve as the primary point of contact for all NBA-related facility guidelines and issues
  • Collaborate with city agencies on an ongoing basis to balance current guidelines with building and safety initiatives
  • Serve as Executive on Duty
  • Other duties and projects as assigned

Required Experience & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Business Management, or equivalent work experience
  • 10+ years of leadership experience in a venue or large facility operations role, preferably in an arena environment; experience managing multiple departments and overseeing large-scale operations
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills; ability to lead and motivate staff to achieve departmental and organizational goals; experience creating a strategic direction that reflects a clear understanding of the big picture
  • Strong working knowledge of labor laws and regulations and experience managing labor relations
  • Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, forecasting, and analysis experience required
  • Experience managing large-scale construction and capital projects
  • Strong managerial skills required; initiative, leadership and interpersonal skills are essential
  • Strong commitment to customer and client service; ability to build strong relationships with internal and external clients
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills

Time Commitment

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays

Compensation

  • $227,000 - 241,000 + Bonus
