Senior Backend Engineer - Collective

We’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer who’s excited to build foundational infrastructure for a rapidly growing platform.

In this role, you’ll help define how external developers, applications, and AI systems connect and collaborate with Gong — shaping the future of our ecosystem through the systems you design.

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will:

• Build scalable, secure infrastructure that enables developers, applications, and AI agents to interact with the Gong platform through MCP and A2A protocols.

• Design authentication, authorization, and data access mechanisms that balance security, usability, and flexibility.

• Solve complex system design challenges to deliver rich functionality while ensuring reliability, performance, and an outstanding user experience.

• Collaborate across teams to define standards and architectures that accelerate innovation across the Gong platform.

You should apply if you have:

• 10+ years of backend software development experience, with a strong foundation in Java / Spring Boot and modern cloud-based architectures.

• Experience working with large-scale distributed systems and cloud infrastructure

• Deep understanding of API and platform design, security best practices, and developer experience

• Strategic thinker with a bias for action — able to architect scalable systems while moving quickly

• Passion for enabling developers, partners, and AI agents to build transformative solutions
