As Legal Counsel at Gong, you’re part of a small, exemplary legal team and the projects you take on interact with virtually every team across the organization. You should have a strong background in SaaS transactions. You’re an independent self-starter but also have the maturity to understand when to escalate or collaborate. You are detail-oriented and able to thrive in a dynamic and fast paced environment. You’re creative and flexible, a team player and eager to support diverse projects as the company grows quickly. You’re an effective communicator capable of distilling legal terminology into straightforward language.
This role will primarily support the sales and procurement teams. You'll work closely with business leaders across the company to support the procurement of various service providers, while ensuring information security and privacy compliance and managing internal relationships in the review cycle. You will also support our high velocity sales side business as we onboard customers from around the world and scale Gong to new heights.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Review and negotiate complex commercial SAAS agreements including data processing agreements with enterprise and strategic customers.
- Review and negotiate a wide range of vendor and service contracts, including professional service agreements, marketing and events agreements, and platform services agreements.
- Support the continuous improvement of standard form agreements and legal processes.
- Communicate legal concepts and risks in a way that is meaningful for Gong’s business.
- Collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders, including executives and other departments.
- Support a culture that celebrates wins, encourages innovation, and values its people at every level.
QUALIFICATIONS
- JD degree
- 4-6 years of experience in commercial contracts and technology transactions, at a law firm and/or in-house.
- Preference for candidates with proven experience as a Legal Counsel or similar role in-house in a SaaS company.
- Negotiation and problem-solving abilities, attention to detail and accuracy in work, responsiveness.
- Professionalism and integrity in handling confidential and sensitive information.
- Adaptability and willingness to learn and grow in the role.
- Ability to multi-task and stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
- Admitted to the bar and in good standing or otherwise authorized to practice law in at least one U.S. state, preferably California.

The annual salary hiring range for this position is $183,000 - $215,000 USD.
Compensation is based on factors unique to each candidate, including, but not limited to, job-related skills, qualification, education, experience, and location. At Gong, we have a location-based compensation structure, which means there may be a different range for candidates in other locations. The total compensation package for this position, in addition to base compensation, may include incentive compensation, bonus, equity, and benefits. Some of our sales compensation programs also offer the potential to achieve above targeted earnings for those who exceed their sales targets.
