Front Desk Coordinator

San Francisco, CA

About Goodfire

Goodfire is a research company using interpretability to understand, learn from, and design AI systems. Our mission is to build the next generation of safe and powerful AI—not by scaling alone, but by understanding the intelligence we're building.

Scaling has proven powerful, but today's approach is fundamentally limited: we can't meaningfully understand, debug, or shape what models learn. Every engineering discipline has been gated by fundamental science and AI is at that inflection point now.

We're advancing the science of how AI systems actually work. Treating models as black boxes is an unnecessary handicap—we have access to the structures inside them, and understanding those structures lets us steer what models learn, make them safer and more useful, and extract the vast knowledge they contain. Our goal is to make AI that can be understood, debugged, and shaped like software.

Goodfire is a public benefit corporation headquartered in San Francisco with a team of the world’s top interpretability researchers and engineers from organizations like OpenAI and DeepMind. We're backed by over $200M from B Capital, Menlo Ventures, Lightspeed, Eric Schmidt, and others.

About the role

We’re seeking a Front Desk Coordinator to join our growing team! You’ll serve as the face of the company, creating a welcoming and professional environment for team members, candidates, and guests. This is not a passive, sit-back role- the front desk is the heartbeat of the office and every minute matters. This role is equal parts hospitality and operational excellence. You’ll anticipate needs before they arise, handle high-traffic, multi-guest situations, keep our visitor experience seamless, and help set the tone for our culture.

You’ll work closely with our Operations team to elevate the overall employee experience, owning the details and stepping in wherever needed. We’re looking for someone who is kind, hospitable, detail-oriented, proactive, and ready to go above and beyond for anyone who steps foot into our office.

Key responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of contact for team members, candidates, clients, and guests, creating a warm, professional and welcoming in-office experience
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming front desk and reception area
  • Manage guest check-in and visitor flow using tools such as Slack, Gmail, and a visitor management system
  • Coordinate incoming traffic to the office, including greeting visitors and directing them appropriately
  • Receive, sort, and distribute mail, packages, and deliveries with accuracy and efficiency
  • Coordinate food and catering deliveries for team meals and events
  • Partner with the Operations team to support day-to-day office needs and special projects as needed
  • Maintain consistent in-office coverage from 8:00AM - 5:00PM, Monday through Friday

What you’ll bring

Required experience

  • 1-2 years of experience in a front desk, office coordination, or administrative role
  • Strong communication skills and a professional and welcoming presence
  • Strong email etiquette
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to adapt to a busy environment
  • Basic tech fluency (Google Calendar, Google Mail, Slack, etc.)

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience working in a fast-paced, early-stage startup environment
  • Experience supporting office operations, workplace coordination, or facilities management
  • Experience managing vendors, deliveries, or office logistic
