The Opportunity

Good Inside is seeking a skilled Analytics Engineer with expertise in dbt to transform raw data into meaningful insights that drive strategic decisions across Product, Marketing, Content, and Finance teams. In this role, you'll collaborate closely with stakeholders to design and implement robust data models that address critical business challenges. We need a data enthusiast who can navigate complex datasets, distill what truly matters, and deliver insights in a clear and actionable manner. What You’ll Own

  • Data Modeling and Transformation: Design, develop, and maintain complex data models using dbt, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and efficiency 
  • Data Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for data models, transformations, and business logic using dbt's built-in features
  • Data Quality and Testing: Implement robust data quality checks and testing frameworks within dbt to ensure data integrity and reliability
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation in the data transformation and modeling workflows
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with the Director of Business Intelligence, BI analysts, and cross-functional stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver high-quality, actionable datasets
  • Best Practices Implementation: Stay current with dbt best practices and analytics engineering trends, implementing improvements to enhance team efficiency and data model performance

 Your Skills & Experience

  • You have 3-5 years of experience in analytics roles
  • You have 2+ years of experience with data modeling and transformation
  • You possess expert-level proficiency in SQL and dbt, with hands-on experience in data warehouses like Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift
  • You have a proven track record of designing, implementing, and maintaining complex data models that support cross-functional BI and analytics needs
  • You're comfortable working with version control systems (e.g., Git) and have experience with collaborative development workflows
  • You have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications
  • You're experienced in implementing data quality checks, writing unit tests, and ensuring data integrity throughout the transformation process
  • You have excellent communication skills, able to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • You're a proactive learner, staying up-to-date with the latest developments in dbt, data modeling techniques, and analytics engineering best practices
  • You're comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and can manage multiple priorities effectively
  • You have a practical mindset, balancing the need for accuracy with the ability to deliver timely data
  • You're passionate about data documentation and have experience creating and maintaining comprehensive data dictionaries and model descriptions
  • You have a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience

  • Is passionate about data documentation and believes in the power of well-documented models to drive organizational data literacy
  • Is eager to share knowledge, contributing to the overall growth of the analytics team
