In-House Counsel

New York, NY (Hybrid Manhattan)

Who We Are

Good Inside is redefining parenting - not as something that should “just come naturally,” but as a skill to learn and practice. Founded by Dr. Becky Kennedy and Dr. Erica Belsky, we combine sturdy leadership with innovative technology to give parents personalized guidance, AI-powered support, and a global community.

Our mission: help parents raise resilient, confident kids in a changing world. We’ve already reached millions, and we’re just getting started.  We’re refining our product and expanding our reach to empower even more families.

We’re looking for bold, high-ownership problem-solvers who want to build something new, tackle big challenges, and be at the forefront of change.

The Opportunity

We’re looking for an experienced, business-minded in-house Counsel to own and streamline our day-to-day legal needs while strategically engaging outside counsel for specialized advice. You’ll be a trusted advisor to leadership and our teams, balancing legal rigor with practical, business-driven solutions. You will help balance legal risk with our execution abilities across contracting, regulatory compliance, and IP protections.

This is a hybrid role based in NYC, with 3 days/week in our Midtown Manhattan office and reports to the Head of Finance & Business Operations.

What You’ll Own

  • Lead Commercial Contracting – Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of contracts, including partnership agreements, vendor contracts, and licensing deals
  • Policy Development – Own and maintain our Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and other customer-facing legal documents
  • Regulatory Compliance – Advise on FTC compliance and other standard regulatory matters, ensuring marketing and product initiatives are aligned
  • Intellectual Property – Manage trademark filings, copyright protection, and takedown requests; oversee portfolio maintenance
  • Data Compliance – Partner with product and engineering on privacy and data use matters, including AI-related compliance
  • Cross-Functional Support – Provide quick-turn guidance on marketing copy, product features, and partnership opportunities
  • Outside Counsel Management – Coordinate with specialized counsel on complex IP, M&A, or advanced data privacy matters; ensure efficient and cost-effective use of external resources

 Your Skills & Experience

  • Experience: 5-7+ years of legal practice, ideally with both law firm training and in-house exposure
  • Expertise: Strong background in contracts (including partnership agreements), IP, privacy, and general corporate matters
  • Business Acumen: Ability to assess risk in context, balancing legal considerations with company priorities
  • Independence: Comfortable owning matters end-to-end, with minimal oversight
  • Judgment: Knows when to handle issues internally and when to escalate to outside counsel
  • Collaboration: Strong communicator who builds trust across finance, product, marketing, content and leadership
  • Ideally has experience in entertainment / media, a plus if exposed to working with content creators and structuring deals involving past and future IP

What We Offer

  • Compensation: Annual salary for this role will be $200k - $225k
  • Company Equity
  • Comprehensive benefits package
  • 401k + Company match
  • Time off to recharge
  • Hybrid work environment
  • A high-ownership, high-performance, high-collaboration culture
