About the team:

We are looking for a talented Product Designer with 2-3 years of experience and a strong portfolio showcasing exceptional visual design craft. You’ll have the opportunity to design beautiful, user-centered solutions that drive both engagement and business outcomes. If you have a passion for digital stationery, love creating stunning graphics, and are excited about solving design problems through experimentation and data-driven insights, we’d love to hear from you!

You will be joining our marketplace team, which is focused on growth & monetization. This team builds on one of GoodNotes' core strengths: allowing users to create visually appealing notebooks with top-notch handwriting technology. The team works together to create the best digital paper notebook marketplace platform and continually innovate on ways to enhance the aesthetic note-taking experience, aligning with the broader company's strategic initiatives.

About the role:

This is a role that blends design and business. You will be responsible for creating engaging graphics and user interfaces for digital stationery while improving efficiency through a content management system (CMS). By collaborating closely with the team, you will develop innovative products and run experiments that drive growth and optimize user experiences.

This is the role for you, if you’re excited to work on the things listed below:

  • Creating beautiful graphics, illustrations, and templates for digital stationery (e.g., planners, calendars, to-do lists, and more).
  • Designing visually stunning and engaging user interfaces for web and mobile platforms.
  • Designing a content management system (CMS) to enhance support for the operations team and boost overall efficiency.
  • Developing innovative digital products and stationery to meet evolving user needs.
  • Shaping the look and feel of our product to inspire creativity and productivity in our users.
  • Collaborating with the team to run experiments and iterate quickly based on data and user feedback.
  • Leveraging data insights to refine and optimize user experiences while maintaining a strong visual identity.
  • Developing wireframes, mockups, and prototypes to communicate design concepts effectively.
  • Contributing to the evolution of a cohesive design system that maintains high-quality visuals and usability standards.

The skills you will need to be successful in the above:

  • Passion for digital stationery products and an understanding of what makes them visually appealing and functional.
  • Exceptional visual design skills, with a keen eye for detail, layout, color, and typography.
  • A strong portfolio showcasing your ability to create beautiful digital assets and user-friendly interfaces.
  • Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar graphic design tools.
  • A solid grasp of interaction design principles and an ability to craft delightful user experiences.
  • Experience working with or contributing to design systems.
  • Strong communication skills to present your work and explain design decisions clearly.

What else would help you, but is not required:

  • Knowledge of usability testing tools or methodologies to validate your design decisions.
  • Basic understanding of front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) to collaborate effectively with developers.
  • Familiarity with growth methodologies and a strong interest in designing for experimentation and iteration.
  • Experience interpreting data-driven insights and designing with performance metrics in mind (e.g., A/B testing).
  • A knack for creating motion and animation effects to enhance user interactions.
  • Previous experience working in startups or fast-paced environments.

Even if you don’t meet all the criteria listed above, we would still love to hear from you!

The interview process:

  • A one-hour interview, including a portfolio review, with our Head of Design and a senior product designer to get to know you and your work
  • A one-hour portfolio presentation with a designer and cross-functional partners you will be working closely with on the marketplace team

What’s in it for you:

  • Flexible working hours and location
  • A supportive team that values innovation and efficiency

Note: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of background checks, including verification of employment, education, and criminal records.
