Engineering Manager - Ad Tech
Who We Are
The Engineering Manager is responsible for a team of software engineers and partners with technical product management and other engineering leaders to deliver business outcomes that enable Goodway Group to acquire and retain customers in the short and long-term. You will be responsible for the overall productivity and technical road-map of the team they supervise, including management of technical debt to ensure that productivity stays high over time as well as compliance and security initiatives.
While this is a fully remote role based anywhere in the United States, travel will be required based on business needs.
What You Will Do
- Partner with technical product management to establish business goals for the engineering team. The engineering manager is expected to own the “how” part of the discussion, as well as provide estimates of time/resource complexity to inform prioritization and scoping decisions. A great engineering manager helps the technical product manager to arrive at a high-leverage roadmap that can be delivered iteratively, minimizes risk and delivers the intended business outcomes.
- Participate in stakeholder collaboration during planning, development and deployment, to understand their problems and ensure our solutions deliver on the expected outcomes and resolve any roadblocks that would prevent success.
- Oversee day-to-day sprint ceremonies, clearing roadblocks as they arise.
- Lead and Inspire and the team to deliver on the goals, with high productivity and quality, and in partnership with business stakeholders.
- Coach and supervise engineers to develop their skills and deliver excellent work, leading to a positive culture and high employee retention. Provide helpful performance feedback in the form of on-track 1:1s. Work with each team member to establish meaningful Individual Development Plans and Personal Wildly Important Goals. (IDPs and PWIGs).
- Keep technical/development skills sharp enough to lead the team effectively.
- Participate in code review process to ensure that our codebase is high-quality and technical debt is kept in check.
- Hire and retain top tier talent that supports the teams business and tech goals, and aligns with Goodway’s behaviors.
What You Bring
- 9+ years of relevant industry experience with 3-5 of those years being in management.
- Flexible leadership style, with the ability to work with team members across different departments.
- Ability to allocate tasks to team members based on their skills and expertise.
- Identifying potential risks in projects and taking proactive measures to mitigate them.
Things You Should Know
- Our workdays can sometimes be long and unpredictable. You should be comfortable and capable of working at your desk for at least 8 hours.
- We gather to work and play for a week up to four times a year, and these events are required.
- There may also be other opportunities to travel dependent on business needs.
